  2. Science Coaches’ Mission To develop future science leaders by supporting teachers of science in the areas of curriculum, assessment, and instruction and by fostering an environment of collaboration, reflection, and professional growth.

  3. What you have done . . . Inventory & Storage Area • Built rapport and trust (collaborative environment) • Facilitated the review, evaluation, and integration of school and district science resources (support a hands-on approach) • Developed a support system (curriculum, materials, questions) • Gained an understanding of what works for teachers and students (know the strengths and weaknesses of every teacher and how to utilize strengths for the benefit of the group and how to develop a weak area)

  4. What you will continue to do . . . • Meet regularly with leadership team. • Collaborate with reading and math coaches, DILs & contacts, and LTFs (curriculum & area support teams). • Analyze dataand assist the administrative team in developing and implementing your science action plan (enrichment & tutorial groups). • Assist teachers in interpreting diagnostics.

  5. What you will continue to do . . . • Provide daily coaching and mentoring support to teachers. • Work with teachers to plan, implement, and reflect on science instruction. • Model best practices in science instruction with teachers as active participants (e.g., CRISS, bellringers, chunking, foldables). • Plan and implement science professional development sessions.

  6. Crunch Time • Provide support for Saturday Success Academy and/or other tutorials. • Provide support with targeted students (push-in/pull-out & enrichment/tutorial). • Schedule teacher rotations and/or other special events (FCAT Parent Night). • Implement test-taking strategy sessions.

  7. Crunch Time - Continued Ensure that teachers . . . • are aware of the annually assessed (AA) benchmarks. • are utilizing FCAT Item Specifications for planning. • in the tested grade levels have • covered all content before FCAT.

  8. Looking Ahead . . . Ensure that non-tested grade level teachers are teaching to the NGSSS standards.
