  4. French-British-French-British • The French & British would compete to control Acadia • For France and Britain, Acadia represented a base for attacking each other, and for protecting their own colonies and trade routes.

  5. Mi’kmaq • First Nations people, indigenous to Canada’s Maritime Provinces. • They had established a trading partnership with the French, and allowed the French to settle on their lands • The Mi’kmaq people and the Acadians became allies
