DMTI Spatial Inc. • Acadia’s recent participation in the academic DMTI Spatial Consortium, provides DMTI spatial files and software to Data Liberation Initiative (DLI) participants. • This academic partnership between DMTI Spatial Inc. and a large consortium of university libraries has provided Acadia access to Geocoding software and valuable GIS data, including detailed street network files for small Canadian geographic areas.
Statistics Canada’s Data Liberation Initiative • Acadia’s participation in the Statistics Canada Data Liberation • Initiative (DLI) provides Acadia affordable access to Statistics Canada data files and databases, including GIS data and software. • GIS data includes boundary files and street networks, health • regions. • Most numeric data, e.g. the Census, health indicators, includes • a geographical component which makes it possible to visualize • this data using a GIS.
