Attacking with speed is a crucial strategy in hockey that applies pressure on opposing defensemen, forcing them into split-second decisions on coverage. The quicker your team skates, the more likely it is to create scoring opportunities as defenders struggle. In typical attack situations, the left winger and right winger consistently push towards the net, while a third player supports without getting caught deep. Understanding these formations and tactics can open up the ice, leading to higher scoring chances and effective offensive plays.

Practice 5 Concept • Attacking with Speed
Why Attack with Speed? • Puts pressure on the other teams defensemen. • Requires them to make a decision about which player to cover. The faster you’re skating, the greater the chance they’ll make the wrong decision. • Opens up the ice for scoring chances.
