  13. Cerebral Hemispheres • Cerebral = brain • Right and Left hemisphere (halves) • Each hemisphere appears to be specialized for some behaviors. • Left: language, math, logic, and organization • Right: face recognition, visual images, music, and creativity Left Right

  14. Left vs. Right Hemispheres • The right side of the brain controls muscles on the left side of the body • The left side of the brain controls muscles on the right side of the body. • Therefore, damage to one side of the brain will affect the opposite side of the body.

  17. Answer: • The stroke occurred in the right cerebral hemisphere. • We know this because the right cerebral hemisphere controls the left side of the body and it was her left side that was damaged
