  2. Paul Revere’s Ride • The British began to march from Boston to Concord to seize military supplies and arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock. • Paul Revere learned of the British plans. • He rode with William Dawes and Samuel Prescott to Lexington and Concord to warn the militias.

  3. The Shot Heard Round the World • The first shot at Lexington was known as “the shot heard round the world.” • The British won the Battle of Lexington. • The British didn’t find weapons at Concord and began to retreat to Boston. They were fired on by the militias.

  4. American Revolution the war between the 13 colonies and Great Britain from 1775 to 1783 in which the 13 colonies won their independence and became the United States

  5. The Battle of Bunker Hill • The Patriots wanted to control the hills outside of Boston. • They built a fort on Breed’s Hill. • The British attacked the hill. They were held back but the Patriots ran out of ammunition. • The British won the Battle of Bunker Hill but lost a lot of men.

Lesson Review Activity • Paul Revere warns that the British are coming. • Samuel Prescott rides on to Concord. • Minutemen pour into Concord to help fight. • During the night, the minutemen build a fort on Breed Hill. • The British take Bunker Hill. • The Patriots run out of ammunition. Put the events in the correct order on the sequence chart.
