  4. Gigabit Ethernet • Zaproponowano budowę koncentratorów pracujących w trybie pełny-dupleks (ang. full-duplex). Powoduje to zniesienie wszelkich ograniczeń wynikających z czasu propagacji. Jednak koncentrator musi mieć możliwość buforowania ramek na każdym porcie. Domenę kolizyjną ogranicza się w ten sposób do magistrali wewnętrznej koncentratora.
