  2. Replace Pages in CBT Manual • There are two separate correction sheets (page 27 and page 40) for the Spring 2011 Computer-Based Test Administration Manuals. (These sheets are included in the manual shipment.) • Please staple or tape the replacement sheets over the current sheets. (The current pages should not be completely removed from the manuals because the replacements are not double-sided.) • Other updates made since the Manual was printed: • Session Creation information • Invalidating tests in PearsonAccess

  3. PHASE III: CBT READINESS ACTIVITIES • Email sent from Chancellor Haithcock on 1/26/2011 includes instructions and reference materials. (See Weekly Briefing #9330.) • Phase III: Guide to the 2010-11 Computer-Based Assessments Certification (FCAT and EOC) Final Certification is posted at www.FLAssessments.com/CertificationGuide. • Complete Final Phase of Computer-Based Assessments Certification. • All schools who will participate in the FCAT or EOC computer-based assessments this spring must complete the survey in the tool. • Survey deadline is March 1 for FCAT Retake and FCAT Grade 10 Mathematics.

CBT GLOSSARY • PearsonAccess: is the vendor’s website (www.pearsonaccess.com/fl) used for all CBT test preparation activities. • TestNav 6.9: is a testing platform that will be used for all CBT assessments and requires an application download. • TestHear: is a software platform to access accommodated forms (e.g., large print, color contrast, zoom, screen reader) for eligible students. • ePat (electronic practice assessment test): is an online practice test to help students become familiar with the computer-based testing platform. • Proctor Caching: is a process of loading or “caching” test content locally on a computer at the school level to reduce test delays due to network congestion.

  6. CBT GLOSSARY (cont.) • Class: is a required field in PearsonAccess. Students are assigned to a class through the PreID upload or Create a New Student Wizard. • You not required to manage students through class assignments. • Test Session: is a required field for scheduling students to take a test. The three ways that you can set up sessions are: Test Group, Test Day, or Test Administration. • Student Authorization Ticket: is a secure ticket with a unique login ID and test code assigned to a student. • Session Roster: is a roster of students that are scheduled to test together in a test session.

Spring 2011 Computer-BasedTest Administration Schedule (cont.) • FCAT Retakes (March 30 - April 7) • Mathematics Retake - Untimed • Computer-based test (CBT) ONLY • A paper-based version will be provided only for students with allowable paper-based accommodations and for students in Department of Corrections facilities, excluding DJJ facilities. • CBT sessions may be scheduled during the entire one-week testing window. • Reading Retake - Untimed • Paper-based or Computer-based (at approved schools only) • Paper-based: Miami-Dade schools must test March 30, 2011. • Computer-based: Sessions may be scheduled during the entire one-week testing window. Spring 2011 Computer-BasedTest Administration Schedule (cont.) • Grade 10 Mathematics (April 13-25) • Computer-based test (CBT) ONLY • A paper-based version will be provided only for students with allowable paper-based accommodations and for students in Department of Corrections facilities, excluding DJJ facilities. • One 160-minute session • Scheduled 10-minute break after 80 minutes • Individual breaks, as needed • Mathematics sessions may begin on Day 3 (April 13, 2011) TAM 2

Grade 10 Mathematics Students to be Tested • The following students participate in Grade 10 FCAT Mathematics: • First time Grade 10 students • English Language Learners (ELLs) • Students with Disabilities • All students with disabilities participate in one of the following manners: • FCAT without accommodations • FCAT with accommodations • Florida Alternate Assessment TAM 2

RETAKE (READING/MATHEMATICS) Students to be Tested • The following students participate in the FCAT Reading Retake and/or Mathematics Retake: • Retained Grade 10 and Grades 11-AD students • who have NOT previously taken or passed one or both parts of the FCAT, or • who have NOT achieved an ACT or SAT concordant score(s) to meet their graduation requirement • Adult high school students who have not yet passed both parts of the FCAT required for graduation with a standard diploma • Certificate of Completion students • Students in the second or third year of the Three-Year Graduation Program TAM 2

REQUESTED ADMINISTRATION INFORMATION • The following information must be recorded and retained: • Students assigned to your room • Student Name and Student Florida ID Number • Attendance Information • P=Present, A=Absent, W=Withdrawn, P/I=Present but Invalidated • Accommodations provided • Codes are in the Spring 2011 Computer-Based Test Accommodations Guide for Grade 10 Mathematics and Reading & Mathematics Retakes • Test Group Code (to identify groups of students tested together) • Grade Level • Signatures of test administrator and school assessment coordinator and dates for when secure materials (e.g., Work Folders, Student Authorization Tickets, Session Rosters, Reading Passage Booklets, Mathematics Reference Sheets) are received and returned TAM 12

TEST Materials Needed • Florida Computer-Based Testing Work Folders • A blank piece of yellow 11x17 paper folded in half that students use to work Mathematics problems • Reading Passage Booklets (Accommodation) • Students are eligible if their IEPs or Section 504 plans include this accommodation • Booklets contain Reading passages but do not contain test items • Students will respond to test items on the computer TAM 13

OTHER Materials Needed • Calculators • Computer-based Mathematics tests have a built-in, four-function calculator (TI-108). • Students may request to use a hand-held FCAT calculator instead of the online TI-108 calculator after participating in a CBT practice test. • Reference Sheets, optional • Computer-based Mathematics tests have a pop-up window that includes the Grade 10/Retake FCAT Mathematics Reference Sheet. • Schools may provide paper copies of reference sheets to students; however, • schools must make their own copies.   23. PROCTORS FOR CBT *It is recommended that a proctor be assigned to a room with 25 or fewer students whenever possible. TAM 8

Missing Materials and Test Irregularities/Security Breaches • Test administrators should report any test irregularities (e.g., power outage, fire alarm) and possible security breaches to the school assessment coordinator immediately. • Maintain a record of interruption in connection / students “kicked out” of the test • If a secure document, such as a Student Authorization Ticket, a used Work Folder, a Session Roster, or a Reading Passage Booklet, is lost or a test irregularity or security breach is identified, the school assessment coordinator must contact Student Assessment and Educational Testing at 305-995-7520. • Missing Materials form and Test Irregularities/Security Breaches form can be found online at www.FLAssessments.com/SpringRMS. Practice Test (ePAT) • All students MUST participate in a practice test prior to taking the computer-based Grade 10/Retake Mathematics. • Practice test takes approximately 45 minutes. • Recommend completing at least three weeks prior to administration. • Must use ePat Practice test script provided on CBT Manual pages 17 – 24. • Provide students with URL so they can practice on their own www.FLAssessments.com/ePAT. Practice Test (ePAT) (cont.) • About the ePAT • Sample test will prepare students for types of items in the Reading Retake and Grade 10/Retake Mathematics tests. • Familiarizes students with • Mathematics Reference Sheets • Online tools • Process of responding to items on the computer • Practice test items are not intended to replicate the difficulty of the items on the test. • Work Folders and Reading Passage Booklets will not be provided for practice tests. • Instruct students to bring their own scratch paper and pencils/pens. PearsonAccess: School User Accounts • School user accounts are necessary to complete the CBT test activities. • Create or reset your password for each Pearson site (operational and training center). • Create school user accounts for test administrators in Pearson site (operational). • Two different school user accounts may be set up: • Individual accounts for each test administrator • Test administrator will set up unique password. • Generic accounts linked to the school assessment coordinator • The password will be the same for all test administrators. • These accounts can be randomly assigned. • Test administrators may monitor and resume students with a school user account. TEST PLATFORM: TESTNAV 6.9 • Platform that Florida will use for high-stakes computer-based statewide assessments. • Software application installed either on a file server or on each computer that will be used for testing. • Every computer used for testing should have a TestNav shortcut on the desktop. PROCTOR CACHING • Proctor Caching is a process of loading or “caching” test content locally on a computer at the school level. • Does not require a separate caching server and can run on any workstation on the network that meets minimum requirements. • Proctor Caching software is provided by Pearson. • Reduces test delays due to network congestion. • Provides students with a more seamless testing experience. • Required for all FCAT/EOC computer-based testing in Florida. • Proctor Caching Network Diagram TAM 1

MANAGING PEARSONACCESSSTUDENT INFORMATION • PreID file was submitted January 21, 2011 • School may add students using the Create New Student wizard after the designated PreID window • Access Session Roster • Test sessions must be created in PearsonAccess • Students must be assigned to a test session BEFORE student data can be verified • Test sessions can be modified at any time • Verify the accuracy of Student Name and Student ID number prior to testing using a Session Roster TAM 49-50

MANAGING PEARSONACCESSFilters and Search Fields • Any column with can be filtered. • To filter data, click the symbol and enter the filter criteria. • The column will be filtered according to the search term. • Clicking on the column heading also allows you to sort the data in descending or ascending order. Once the data is sorted, an up or down arrow appears after the column heading.

MANAGING PEARSONACCESS SESSIONS: ORGANIZING TEST SESSIONS • Three ways of organizing test sessions • By Test Group – only includes students in a particular group (e.g., class, testing room) who will be testing togetherAdvantage:PearsonAccess can be used to manage the testing groups and session rosters will include only one group of students testing togetherDisadvantage:will require setup and management of more sessions • By Test Day – includes all students in a school to be tested in a subject on a particular dayAdvantage:greater security because a session can be started and stopped on the same dayDisadvantage: it requires coordination of testing groups at the school TAM 50-51

MANAGING PEARSONACCESS SESSIONS: ORGANIZING TEST SESSIONS (CONT.) • By Test Administration – includes all students scheduled to be tested in a subject during the entire test administrationAdvantage:limits setup and management to one session and additional make-up sessions do not need to be createdDisadvantage: test sessions are open and active during the entire testing window, which may present a security concern; greater coordination of testing groups at schools; and may be cumbersome to locate and manage specific students TAM 50-51

  37. MANAGING PEARSONACCESS SESSIONS: CREATING TEST SESSIONS • Log in to PearsonAccess, select 2011 Writing, R/M/S, and Retake administration. • Go to Test Management>Manage Test Sessions. • Click New Session to go to the New Test Sessions screen.

MANAGING PEARSONACCESS SESSIONS: CREATING TEST SESSIONS (CONT.) • Enter the session details: • Session Name • School • Test to be Administered • Read Aloud – select No • Default Form Group Type will usually be set to Main, except for when computer-based accommodated test forms (e.g., large print, color contrast, zoom, screen reader) are used • Scheduled Start Date used for planning purposes – a test session will not start until you click START on the Session Details screen • Add students to test sessions by: • Class (View By: Classes) • Individual Student (View By: Students) • Select the check box for each class or student to be added to a session • Click Save • Return to the newly created test session or to the Manage Test Sessions screen • Maintain a list of all test sessions • Ensure technology coordinator cached test content for all sessions and proctor caching is running for sessions prior to the first day of testing TAM 50-51

MANAGING PEARSONACCESSSESSIONS: VIEW AND VERIFY STUDENT DATA • Student Name and Student Florida ID Number MUST be correct in PearsonAccess. • Confirm all students are in test sessions. • Go to Test Management>Manage Test Sessions • Select “View By: Students” • Select the Show All Students box and click Search TAM 52-53

MANAGING PEARSONACCESSSESSIONS: VIEW AND VERIFY STUDENT DATA (CONT.) • Review the Session Name column for any empty/blank fields. • Click twice on this column heading to sort descending by name. • Students who have not been placed in a session will have an empty/blank field in this column. • Add students with blank fields to test sessions. MANAGING PEARSONACCESSSESSIONS: ADDING STUDENTS TO TEST SESSIONS • Go to Test Management>Manage Test Sessions. • Select “View By: Test Sessions.” • Click on the Session Name to go to the Session Details screen. • Click Add Students. • Select “View By: Classes” or “View By: Students.” • Select the check box for the class or the student you want to add, and then click Add to Session. • After you add students, you can verify Form/Form Group Type by clicking Edit. • Click Save after you make changes. MANAGING PEARSONACCESSSESSIONS: MOVING STUDENTS TO ANOTHER SESSION • Go to Test Management>Manage Test Sessions • Select “View By: Test Sessions” • Click on the Session Name to go to the Session Details screen • Select the check box for each student to be moved • Only students with a Ready, Exited, Resumed, or Resumed-Upload status may be moved • Students with a Submitted, Processing, Completed, or Marked Complete status may not be moved to another session • Click Move to go to the Move Students screen • Select an existing test session or create a new test session to which the students will be moved TAM 57-58

MANAGING PEARSONACCESSSESSIONS: REMOVING STUDENTS FROM A SESSION Remove Students from a Session • Go to Test Management>Manage Test Sessions. • Select “View By: Test Sessions.” • Click on the Session Name from which you want to remove a student. • On the Session Details screen, check the box for each student you want to remove. • Click the Remove button. • Click Yes – Remove Students to confirm this action. MANAGING PEARSONACCESSNEW STUDENT WIZARD: PART 2 • Part 2 – Edit Student Details • Enter test data for all required fields - Florida Student ID Number (FSID), Student Last Name, and Student First Name. • Student Name must be entered in all CAPS. • FSID can be a 10-digit Florida Student ID Number (e.g., 1234567891) or the 9-digit Social Security Number followed by an X (e.g., 123456789X). • Scroll down and select the Enrolled School. • Click Save and Next to save your entered data.

MANAGING PEARSONACCESSNEW STUDENT WIZARD: PART 2 (CONT.) • Note: If a student is created for this administration with the same Florida Student ID Number (or Social Security Number followed by an X), the same first 11 characters of the first name, and the same first 12 characters of the last name as an existing student profile at this school, the duplicate student error message will appear. • Click Back to Student Entry Form and cancel the process. • Existing student profile must be used unless there is an error in the Student Name or Student Florida ID Number. • See the instructions to Update Student Information on pages 68-69 of the manual. MANAGING PEARSONACCESSNEW STUDENT WIZARD: PART 3 • Part 3 – Edit Test Registration Details • Select the appropriate Test Administration. • Enter the student’s Date of Birth. • To record ethnicity, use the drop-down box to select Yes or No. • To record race, use the drop-down boxes to select Yes or No next to each race category. Yes may be selected for more than one race category. • Select the appropriate Gender and Grade. • Click Save and Next. TAM 53-54

MANAGING PEARSONACCESSNEW STUDENT WIZARD: PART 4 • Part 4 – Edit Class Registration • To assign the student to an existing class, select the box next to the class name and click Save and Next. • To assign the student to a new class, click New Class and follow the steps to create a new class. • Class name has a limit of 9 characters and must be in all CAPS(e.g., THOMAS). • When the class has been created and added to the list, select the box next to the class name and click Saveand Next.

  49. MANAGING PEARSONACCESSNEW STUDENT WIZARD: PART 5 • Part 5 – Edit Assigned Tests and Enable the Student to Test on Computer (Set Online Indicator) • Student must be assigned to a test. Select the box(es) next to the appropriate test(s). • Set the student’s Tested Grade and Online Indicator for each test. • Tested Grade is the grade level of the student to be tested. • Online Indicator indicates that the student will participate in the computer-based administration. Yes must be selected for a student to be scheduled into a test session. • Click Save and Exit to complete the registration process for this student.

  50. MANAGING PEARSONACCESSDELETING A STUDENT • If a Student Name and Student Florida ID Number is INCORRECT, delete the student’s test assignment and create a new record in PearsonAccess. • Delete a student’s test assignment • Go to Test Management>Manage Test Sessions. • Select “View By: Registered Students” on the Student Registration screen. • To view all students, select the Show All Students check box and click Search. • To search for an individual student, enter the search criteria, and then click Search. • Must enter or select at least one search field • The more specific the criteria, the more focused the search will be • Click the name of the student, and then click the Assigned Tests tab. • Select all Online tests assigned to that student and then click Remove Test. • Do not remove any paper tests assigned to the student. • Click Yes – Continue with Removal to confirm.
