  2. Notes on Installation Check whether you have 8.5Double Click your AVG icon on the desktop.Look at the Status Information at the bottom left of the AVG window. If you already have version 8.5 go directly to “Configuration”.

  3. Notes on Installation Download version 8.5Go to filehippo.comFrom the Latest Updates, Most Popular Updates or Anti-Virus sections, select “AVG Free Edition 8.5”On the next screen click “Download Latest Version” follow the download prompts according to your own taste.

Notes on Installation Install version 8.5The installation is performed over the existing version.(If in the previous step you opted to “Run” rather than “Save” then you’re installing it now. )Double-Click the downloaded file to install AVG.Accept all defaults.When it is completed, start AVG and do a series of UPDATES until no more updates are availableCheck the AVG version is now 8.5.xxxInstallation is now completed

Notes on Configuration To show the settings for the Scheduled Scan, open the AVG User Interface On the menu bar click on Tools and then Advanced Settings The aim of this particular piece of configuration is to prevent AVG from performing the daily scan of your computer for viruses happening immediately on computer start up without disabling the scan.

  6. Click on the + beside Schedules and select Scheduled Scan. Notes on Configuration

  7. The problem is that if your computer is not on at 12:00 it misses the scan.As the Advanced Schedule Option is ticked, It then does it on Computer Start up…and your computer becomes busy just when you want to use it. Notes on Configuration

  8. Change the settings so that the scan runs “Action based” “OnComputer Start Up” but with a 30 minutes delay. Don’t forget to untick the Advanced Option to “Run on computer start up if task has been missed” Configuration Completed Notes on Configuration
