Coffee Houses Around Mankato • Many different coffee houses in Mankato. 1.The Coffee Hag 2.The Fillin’ Station 3.Techno Village Internet Coffeehouse. 4.The Grind 5.The Indigo • A popular hang-out for many college students. • A place where people & students can relax. • A stress free environment.

  4. The Coffee Hag • Located on 329 Riverfront Dr. • Owner: Patti Rusky • Serve: Cappuccino, Gourmet Coffees, teas, and sodas. • Specialty pastries, soups, sandwiches and salads. • Have Weekend Entertainment • Every year Patti holds the Starving Artists Fair

  5. History Coffee Hag • 329 Riverfront Dr. Hasn’t always been the Coffee Hag • The building has been there since1892 • Some of the former business are: • Wenzyl Huettl Tailor (1892-1907) • M &A Schulze General Store (1921-1925) • S & S Tavern (1953-1975) • Rudie’s Lock and Key (1975-1979)

Techno Village Internet Coffee-House • Located at 320 Stadium Rd, two blocks from MSU. • Opened in May of 1995. • Owned by Prairie Lakes Internet co. • Wanted computer & internet more personable & sociable. • First internet coffee-house in Minnesota. • Provides coffees & computers in a cozy environment.

What’s on the Menu • Offers a social setting for computers,coffee and friends • On the Menu: 1.Brewed Coffee 2.Flavored Coffees 3.Expresso/Cappuccino Coffees 4.Soft drinks & Waters • There is no smoking in this coffee house either. • They feature T1 backbone circuits,for the fastest web connection in town.

  8. The Grind Coffee House • Located at 1608 Warren St. Mankato, MN. • Owned by Emily Olson and Pam Keele. • Provides: • Entertainment • Coffee • Alcoholic Beverages • Food

  9. The History of The Grind • Started and owned by Alan Gruidl. • Gruidl sold The Grind on August 13, 2001 to Emily Olson and Pam Keele. • Recently remodeled and menu change.

  10. What’s on the Menu • Offers live music and open mic night. • Coffees • Expresso • Cappuccino • Alcoholic Beverages • Domestic / Imported Beer • Mixed Drinks • Food • Lunch Menu • desert

The Fillin’ Station • Located at 634 South Front St. in downtown Mankato. • Opened November of 1997. • Owned & operated by Scott Tufte native of MN. • Offers gourmet coffee & pastries along w/ a relaxed atmosphere. • Inside offers soft chairs and a fireplace w/ 50’s style signs on the walls. • Friday & Saturday’s features live music.

The Indigo • Built in 1993 so students would have a study lounge w/ food and a relaxing environment. • Home to many students and teachers • Great central campus location • Reasons why people come to the Indigo: • To kill time • To do homework • To hang out • To sleep • Great studying environment

Inside the Indigo • On the menu: • Coffee • Cappuccino • Pastries • Salads • The “ You want it, you got it” gourmet • Happy hour 3-5 pm…different special each day Inside: ~several computers ~many plants to bring in a little bit of the outdoors ~various paintings on the walls ~comfortable dining area and a great lounge area
