Civil War Review South- farming and slavery North- more factories and larger cities North won the Civil War and the South surrendered Lincoln- President during the Civil War; killed shortly after the war Sectionalism- loyalty to a section or part of the country rather than the whole country Underground RR- an organized, secret system set up to help enslaved people escape from the South to freedom in the North or Canada (Harriet Tubman)

  2. Missouri Compromise- States north of the line were free states; states south of the line were slave states • Free state- slavery was not allowed • Slave state- slavery was allowed • Fugitive Slave Law- said that escaped slaves had to be returned to their owners
