Experiment Status • BaBar • Now taking data until August, achieving record luminosities • Data has been reprocessed into new root format • Other experiments • Glast - updated expected downlink rate 10x • Accelerator research - starting to use MPI cluster • Kavli - MPI interests, plus some data-intensive projects Chuck Boeheim

OS Status • Linux • RedHat Enterprise 3 (RHEL3) rolling out to most servers and desktops • Begun weekly RedHat service meetings (by phone) • About 20 issues opened so far with them (missing function, driver issues) • Have yum-based service to pull updates to systems. • Working out how to update mobile/offsite systems (up2date?) • ALDI project to automate desktop upgrades Chuck Boeheim
OS Status • Solaris • Solaris 2.9 on most servers now • Mac OS X • Currently unsupported • Support requested by some groups, notably Kavli • Some interest in performance as a file server • Great concern over costs of support of new platform (3 to 5 FTE?) Chuck Boeheim

Platform LSF • SLAC has been helping to motivate Platform to offer attractive cluster licensing terms • Platform now has world-wide HEP terms available Chuck Boeheim
Windows Status • Migrated from Citrix Metaframe 1.8 to Citrix XPe • Built Windows software installation site (XWeb) to manage and track software distribution • Final stages of rolling out Exchange 2003 • Rolled out Checkpoint Firewall's to protect internal resources • Switched anti-virus software from CA InoculateIT to Symantec • Migrated from Office XP to Office 2003 • Rolled out Microsoft SQL Server for central Windows applications (Citrix, XWeb, NetIQ, Solid Edge, etc...)
