Oat (Avena sativa), originally used as animal feeds is a cereal with both nutritional and therapeutic effects. This study as designed to investigate the phytochemical constituents, the presence of some micronutrients and heavy metals in oat milk. The Oat milk (Quaker oatu00ae) was purchased in a supermarket in Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria and extracted using soxhlet apparatus with 80% methanol as soxhlet. The extract was then lyophilized slowly dried in an oven at 40u00b0C and analyzed for the presence of phytochemicals using standard methods. Sample digestion for micronutrient.

11 Characterization of Fish protein Hydrolysate from Tilapia by-products using acid PDF
Characterization of Fish protein Hydrolysate from Tilapia by-products using acid

Waste management has been a significant problem in the fish processing industry due to environmental and public health impacts. Food products can be developed from the by-products of the aquaculture industry. This study extracted and characterized fish protein hydrolysate (FPH) from tilapia by-products (viscera). It was produced by enzymatic and acid hydrolysis. The degree of hydrolysis (DH), protein pattern, solubility, emulsifying, and foaming properties of the FPH were determined. The yield of the fish protein hydrolysate increased with increasing concentration for acid hydrolysis.

8 Evaluation of applicability of CETP gene mutation as the predictor of cardiovasc PDF
Evaluation of applicability of CETP gene mutation as the predictor of cardiovasc

Cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP) is a hydrophobic glycoprotein that mediates the transfer of cholesteryl ester from HDL in exchange for triglycerides in apolipoprotein B100 containing lipoproteins. Several studies showed genetic mutation in different populations in the CETP gene contributes to the manifestation of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in that population. Exon 15 is the hotspot of CETP gene mutation. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to search for genetic mutation of CETP gene at exon 15 in the Bangladeshi population. In this study, total of 200 subjects including 100

Depression among chronic arsenic exposure patients in Shampur Upazila, Rajshahi

Multiple studies suggest that as a toxicant arsenic can adversely affect the growth of human brain and neural functions even when it is present with a permissible limit. This study suggests a hypothesis that four to eight weeks of sub-chronic arsenic exposure (10u2009mg/L arsenic in drinking water) can cause or increase anxiety and depression-like behaviours. This cross-sectional comparative study was carried out among the 54 participants of Shampur Upazila, Rajshahi, Bangladesh. The study was conducted between 2019 to 2022. The depression levels were assessed using Zung depression scale.

Ingestion of microplastics by bigeye scad, Selar crumenophthalmus in Municipal

This study evaluated the presence of microplastic ingestion by bigeye scad, Selar crumenophthalmus from the Municipal Waters of Malimono, Surigao del Norte, Philippines. The microplastics were found in seven (7) fish individuals (11.67%) from a total of 60 fish samples examined, with an average of 0.12 u00b1 0.04 (mean u00b1 SD) items per fish. Fibers (42.86%) made up the majority of the ingested plastic, followed by beads and fragments (28.57%). Only one piece of plastic was found in each of the stomachs of the seven fish samples that had consumed microplastic.

The protective role of garlic oil against doxorubicin-induced hepatotoxicity

Doxorubicin, also known as Adriamycin, is a highly effective antineoplastic agent, but it is well known for its oxidative damage to various body organs, such as hepatotoxicity. The present study aimed to investigate the possible protective role of the natural antioxidant garlic oil on Doxorubicin-induced liver toxicity. Studies were performed on four groups of mice. Control group, garlic oil group, doxorubicin group for seven doses, and doxorubicin plus garlic oil group. Histological examination of liver sections revealed that doxorubicin caused pathological changes in liver cells as well.

Leachate characteristics generated by Pagalungan landfill Cagayan de Oro City

This paper discusses the characteristics of leachate generated from municipal solid waste of Pagalungan landfill in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. Leachate samples were collected and analyzed for various physicochemical parameters. Leachate characteristics are evaluated by standard tests. The pH of the leachate is considered as acidic as the pH is 6.47 in the Pagalungan landfill. BOD5 and COD of the leachate are 3, 809.27 mg/L and 23, 264 mg/L, respectively. It has been found that leachate contains high concentrations of organic and inorganic constituents beyond the permissible limits.
