  1. The French and Indian War From 1754-1763 there was a war in North America called the_________________. (Also known as the Seven Years War in Europe). The major players in this war were the __________________and the_____________________. The area of land being fought over was called___________________. In 1754, the French owned it, but by 1763 it was given over by treaty to the English. In winning this war, the English gained control of all lands _________________and Spain now controlled all lands________________. (As part of the Treaty, Spain also gave ____________over to the English) France was booted out of North America (except for a small sugar growing island in the West Indies.

The French and Indian War The major players in this war were the English with their Native American allies and the French with their Native American Allies. The area of land being fought over was called The Ohio River Valley. In 1754, the French owned it, but by 1763 it was given over by treaty to the English. In winning this war, the English gained control of all lands East of the Mississippi River and Spain now controlled all lands West of the Mississippi River. (As part of the Treaty, Spain also gave Florida over to the English). France was booted out of North America (except for a small sugar growing island in the West Indies.

  3. Most colonial settlements were located along the Atlantic Coast. Colonial Settlers, or pioneers, slowly moved into the Ohio River Valley. Indian leaders like Chief Pontiac opposed British Settlement. In 1763 Pontiac’s Rebellion erupted. Because of this rebellion British leaders feared that more fighting would take place on the frontier if colonists kept moving onto American Indian Lands. The Proclamation of 1763 was issued by King George III and it banned British Settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. It also ordered settlers to leave the upper Ohio River Valley.
