  2. Defining Instructional Design

  3. Addie is also particularly useful as a framework for comparing and contrasting more formally and completely developed instructional design/development models. It is used as a prescriptive model for developing instruction.

  4. ADDIE as an acronym: • Analyze • Design • Develop • Implement • Evaluate

  5. It is simply a “device” to help us think through a courses design.

  6. The major idea behind the learning domains is that learning can be organized and measured. So we ask, “what do people need to learn?" all the way to the point where someone actually measures, "Did people learn what they needed?"

  7. The Addie instructional design model represents a complete instructional design workflow. It has built in planning activities, quality assurance checkpoints, and feedback cycles. There are more than 100 different ISD models, but almost all are based on the generic “ADDIE” model. Because the Addie model builds each subsequent step from previous steps, skipping one step can create ripple effects throughout the entire process. Instructional Design is what it’s all about in this technology world!
