On India's 62nd Independence Day, we reflect on our achievements and the challenges ahead. While we've made significant progress in various sectors, such as space, agriculture, and technology, our rankings in human development indicators reveal a need for urgent action. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam invites all citizens to join the 2nd National Movement for Development, emphasizing holistic education for youth empowerment. Together, we can address poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment to transform India into a developed nation by 2020. Join us in this essential mission!

  6. 4th Rank in IT, Communications, and Missiles

  7. 4th Rank in Purchasing Power(Source: CIA World fact Book)

  8. But…..

  11. 84th Rank in mortality rate surviving past age 40

  12. 97th Rank in Adult literacy rate (% ages 15 and older)

  13. 49th Rank in Access to a quality water source

  14. 134th Rank in Children underweight for age (% ages 0-5)

  15. 126th Rank in terms of gender divide in Primary School enrolments (Girl Child enrolments are very low)

  16. 2nd Rank in Number of Terrorist attacks(Source: Times of India)

  17. 85th Rank in Governance Transparency (Corruption & Scams)

  25. We have seen our first National Movement for “Independence”

  26. Now, Dr. Kalam calls you to participate in the Second National Movement for “Development”

  27. Participate in the 2nd National Movement to make India a Developed Country by 2020

  28. India will be a young country with more than 50% Indians under the age of 29 years by 2020

  29. A movement is born to lead the youth of India with a vision to become a “Developed Country” by 2020

  31. At its core, the movement emphasizes the need for holistic education for the all round development of an individual.

  32. The Lead India 2020 foundation organizes learning camps targeted at the 12-24 year old youth segment

  33. Through our "Aap Badho Desh Ko Badhao" training program, we aim to overcome the shortcomings of the education system and help fulfill our stated objective of "holistic development of the individual”.

  34. So far, the movement has reached out to more than 4.5 Lakh youth over the last five years, thanks to the support of Government of Andhra Pradesh

  35. Meet some of our Lead India 2020 empowered Youth Leaders…

  36. Srikanth, the visually challenged boy, has received admission and full tuition waiver at MIT for his undergraduate studies.  Individuals and organizations are supporting him all the way, his is an interesting story.  Through Lead India, a group of people in the USA have raised funds and are waiting to receive him. His case was brought to the attention of a Board Member of MIT.  He just got his VISA and will be leaving for Boston shortly.

  37. SailajaTeaching her father. Although her father said that he didn’t have time to learn, she taught him to read and write. Lead India change agents have made 768 adults literate.

  38. Ramanjaneya RajuA Lead India Youth Leader turned entrepreneurThe “Digital Empowerment for Rural Youth Livelihood” projectwas successfully executed in 18 villages of West Godavari with community support. Dr. Kalam noted that the project had the scope to empower rural youth.
