Objectives • Create and modify a wall style • Change the style of a wall • Control the display properties of wall components to include materials • Create wall endcap styles, wall modifier styles, and body modifiers to modify the properties of walls • Use Edit In Place to edit wall endcaps, wall modifiers, wall components, and body modifiers • Use the Project Navigator to develop additional floor plans and a foundation plan

  3. Import Wall Styles • Import wall styles from: • Design Tool Catalog-Imperial or Design Tool Catalog-Metric of the Content Browser • Style Manager from the Styles folder of Content in the Places panel • Existing AutoCAD Architecture drawings

  10. Steps to Creating a New Wall Style • Select Manage tab. Choose Style Manager from the Style & Display panel • Select the (+) sign of the Architectural Objects folder in the Tree View of the Left Pane • Select the (+) of the Wall Styles folder • Select the Wall Style category, select the New Style button from the Style Manager toolbar as shown at left. • Overtype a new name in the left pane.

Assigning Materials • Materials are assigned per component of wall • Materials are assigned from the list of materials included in the Material Definitions folder of the Style Manager. • Materials can be imported and assigned to display components using the Materials tool of Design palette. • Materials can be imported in the Style Manager from the Material Definitions (Imperial).dwg or Material Definitions (Metric).dwg of the Imperial and Metric folders in C:\ Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\ACA 2010\enu\Styles directory. • The material definitions are located in the Multi-Purpose Objects folder of the Material Definition (Imperial).dwg file.

Procedure to Assign Material Definitions to a Wall Component • Copy a material definition from the Material Definitions (Imperial) file in the Style Manager. • Paste the material definition into the current drawing. • Assign the material definition to the wall component in the Materials tab of the Wall Style Properties dialog box.

  35. Using the Material Tool • Right-click the Material tool of the Design palette to open the Tool Properties dialog. • Specify a material definition for the Material tool. Click OK to dismiss the dialog box. • Select the Material tool and respond to the workspace prompts as follows: Select a component or an object: (Move the cursor over a component to display the component name.) Apply the material to the style or [this Object]: (Press ENTER to assign the material definition in the style.)

Assigning Classifications • Import classifications in the Style Manager from Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\ACA 2010\enu\Styles\Imperial\Uniformat IIClassifications (1997 ed).dwg • Classifications can be created for fire rating or structural properties as shown above.

Using Automatically Calculate Endcap from Polyline • Select a wall and choose Calculate Automatically from the Endcap panel; respond to the following workspace sequence: • Select polylines: (Select a polyline.) 1 found • Select polylines: ENTER (Press ENTER to end selection.) • The highlighted polyline can be applied to more than one component. • Press ENTER to apply to highlighted component or Tab to go to next possible • component: (Press ENTER to apply the endcap to the highlighted component shown at p2.) • (Edit the Wall Endcap Style dialog box.)

Edit in Place Wall Cleanup • Select walls at p1 and p2, choose Cleanup Edit in Place from the Cleanup panel of the Wall tab • Select the CMU components at p1 and p2 to display grips. • Choose Merge from the Modify panel of the EditinPlace: WallCleanup tab • Select Objects(s) to Merge or None to pick rectangle: (Select closed polygon at p3) • Erase selected linework? [Yes/No] <No>: Y (Enter Y to erase linework.) • Choose Finish from the Edits panel shown below.
