20. Claim Legacy to submissions prior to new.FamilySearch.og Claim Information That You Contributed
If you find information that you originally contributed to Ancestral File, to the Pedigree Resource File, or for temple work, you can claim it so that you can correct or delete it.
When you claim information, you claim all of the information that was in the original submission. You do not need to claim each individual or piece of information separately. However, if you submitted information more than once, such as to Ancestral File and the Pedigree Resource File, you do need to claim each submission separately.
25. For multi generation LDS There probably will be duplicates.
Combine them
But be careful not to combine wrong people
26. Multi-Generation LDS Myths My (Aunt, Grandmother, Cousin, etc) has been doing genealogy for the last 30, 50 etc) years. And
The work is all done. And
Mormons are good genealogists
27. Multi Generation LDS -- Truths Many faithful LDS follow the counsel of our leaders
Since baptism for the dead was revealed many have performed the work for Ancestors
And their cousin did it.
And their Great Aunt did it.
Mistakes have been made and repeated
And repeated
And repeated
28. More Truths maybe? Many LDS submitters are really gatherers copying the work of others
Therefore perpetuate errors and myths
Some one else did the work therefore it is free for the taking and it is accurate
29. If you cite someone else's work give them the credit (or blame)
30. Our job Clean up the database
If someone else suggested it then find the source and prove it.
Genealogy without sources is called Mythology
Primary (recorded at the time of the event) sources are best (Birth Death, Marriage etc)
If secondary sources are used then try to use multiple sources. (Census, Index, Obit, etc)
31. Pedigree Analysis Rule of Thumb Man marries age 25
Woman marries age 21
First child born within first year of marriage
Subsequent Children every two years thereafter
Married Children often moved to wifes home area
People moved for economic reasons crop failure, fire, storm, war etc.
People used established routes of migration

38. Example Multiple parents

Compare Step mothers death vs Jasons birth.
Because I did not create the data on Jasons relationship to stepmother I cannot change it only dispute it
46. Individual of Unusual Size Everybody wants to be descended from Famous people
Most of royalty descendants are from illegitimate children Why would you want to admit that!
Charlemagne born 742
326 entries before I found one recorded as female
First possible candidate 1328 records
48. Searched 325+ records before I found him listed as a female (There are many more groups of records)
Each of those records was a combined record of several records over 325 groups of combined records = IOUS
An attempt to combine IOUS may cause the system to crash.
Artificial cap of 150 combined records
Working to fix it.
However, Medieval dept working of straightening out records prior to 1500 and will publish soon.
