  2. CSI Lab: Analyzing Fingerprints Purpose: The purpose of this crime scene investigation lab is to observe how fingerprints are lifted from glass found at a crime scene. Materials: safety goggles, fingerprinting powder, brush, microscope slides, microscope cover slips, forceps, and a hand lens. Data: For every microscope slide: type of print, 1 detail as proof, and sketch what you see.

  3. Conclusion Questions • Explain what patterns are used to describe the different groups of fingerprint types. • Summarize the procedures you used in this CSI lab to see the thumbprint on the glass. • Use pages 74-79 of your book to explain the difference between a visible, plastic, and latent print. • Be detailed about what type of thumbprint you have in your group. Interview 2 other groups and write their results down too.
