November 18th Reading Sharing Feast • Comparing and contrasting characters and experiences within fiction books • Comparing and contrasting similar non-fiction texts • Describing the role of the author and illustrator and how they work together • Identifying reasons the author gives to support his/herself • Writing • Using a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose opinion pieces • Capitalizing the first word in a sentence • Capitalizing the word ‘I’ • Writing words phonetically • Spelling sight words correctly The annual Thanksgiving Sharing Feast is fast approaching. Please sign up for an item to donate on the Google Doc I shared with you earlier today. You can also sign up to work if you are available to help out that afternoon. The kids will wear adorable turkey hats graciously made by Devanie Howard, Jeremiah’s mother. We will practice and perform a turkey song, and then taste the wonderful food each class made together. Don’t forget to let me know if your child has any food limitations for that day. • Math • Counting to 100 • Sorting objects by color, size, and shape • Creating shapes and numerals using Geo Boards • Recognizing numbers in the teens Upcoming Dates November 22: Scholastic Book Orders Due November 27-29: Thanksgiving Break: No School December 6: Report Cards Distributed
