IP network What is iSCSI? iSCSI is an abbreviation of Internet Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) an IP-based storage networking standard for linking data storage facilities by DAS or SAN connections. Unlike traditional SCSI and Fibre Channel, which requires special purpose cabling, iSCSI can be run over long distances using existing network infrastructure. By carrying SCSI commands over IP networks. 2

  3. Direct Attached Storage (iSCSI vs SCSI) iSCSI requires normal Ethernet cable to directly connect server and RAID; unlike SCSI must use specific SCSI HBA and cable.
