  8. Next steps on Activities • Important for Volunteers to complete next week • Each group discuss use of group area on computer.org/cc • Decide on need of polls, blogs, etc. • Determine one volunteer to maintain group Assets/Content & Documents– Provide name to Chair by 11/18 – to assure owner access and training on LifeRay • Conferences: • Start on “Process for selecting TCS” – see MOU and the Statement of Benefits • Education: • Reformulate the “Develop Essential Sets” activity • Discuss to involve on decisions on video recording (with Conferences group) • Publishing: • Start deciding on focal publications (in addition to TCC, CC Magazine, IT Professional) • BoK: • Decide on Wiki effort – meeting with Jennifer on Thursday • Discuss more and decide on topics • Newsletter: • Start on a mockup layouts • ALL: • Discuss goals for advertising STC for 2013 • Discuss need of CS CC STC blog.

  9. IEEE Computer SocietyCloud ComputingFuture Technologies Sub-Strategy • Mooney Sherman • Body of Knowledge Status Report • November 12th, 2012 • On behalf of Chuck Walrad, Chair

  10. Organizing Principles for CCBOK Wiki • The NIST ontology is not adequate as it not in alignment with the industry trends. • Focus on basics for IT organization, particularly Fortune 1000 • Develop basic questions • Develop areas of contents to consider

  11. Organizing Principles for CCBOK Wiki Con’t • Develop basic questions and answers • Provide references to resources that help answer the questions 11

  12. Organizing Principles for CCBOK Wiki Con’t • Areas to consider: • Business Impact • Opportunity Assessment • Vendor Assessment Framework • Strategic Plan Support • Road Map & Plan for Change Management • Skills And Staffing • Policy And Procedures • Build/Buy Capabilities

  13. Organizing Principles for CCBOK Wiki Con’t Questions???

  14. Newsletter • Newsletter Audience – Newsletter audience to match charter of STC, “IT and Enterprise Management”. Intent is to be a “hook-in” to other assets of the STC • Newsletter Format – Consensus from team is that step 1 is to leverage existing IEEE CS assets, since we are not yet generating our own content. Question – Permission to contact staff regarding how to access existing content in LifeRay? • Newsletter Layout – Volunteers are creating mock layouts to be socialized among group

  15. 25 October 2012 Cloud Computing Initiative Education Update Don Shafer, CSDP donshafer@ieee.org

  16. Cloud Computing: Breakdown of Topics Cloud Computing Introduction and Update Security Governance Economics Migration The topic of Cloud Computing is divided into fiveLevel-1topics as depicted in the graphic above. The introduction and update will change from time to time based on the inherent unsettled nature of the cloud environment and market. We will begin our discussions with an Introduction to Cloud Computing.

  17. Education Objectives Undertake new marketing research once first set of courses are completed to determine next steps Develop Essential Sets Cloud in the Business Environment Hardware, Software, and IT Infrastructure as services Cloud's Regulatory Environment Cloud Governance and Security Cloud Economics, Metrics and Migration Security aspect of Cloud - use above as base Determine course sequences suitable for awarding Certificates Add CC courses to revised IT curriculum (work with ACM, CS PAB) Partner with Universities who offer CC programs (BS, MS degrees)

  18. Leader Don Shafer Volunteers Dennis FraileySan MurugesanLeandro Navarro Staff Expert Dorian McClenahan Education • Cloud Specialization Courses Update • Focus is on the MAW for IEEE • This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our Cloud Computing initiative • Demonstrate the Testbed: http://cloudcomputing.ieee.org/innovations/testbed • Familiarize the community with our future IEEE P2302 Standard for Intercloud Interoperability cloud-to-cloud (Intercloud) protocols • Discuss future courses and materials available • IEEE Metro Area Workshops (MAW) – 20 October 2012 – Shafer delivered full day • The Cloud in the Business Environment - a Manager's Overview • Security Issues in the Cloud – Security and Governance • IEEE/CS Courses – Practitioner Focused 2012 hosted on IEEExplore • Cloud Overview Webinar • Cloud in the Business Environment • Cloud Economics, Metrics and Migration • Cloud Governance • Security issues in Cloud • Action Items • Determine which courses/webinars will need use of testbed – Dennis and Don • Review of the MAW Presentation by Irena’s Network • Capture the lessons learned from the 20 October MAW and update the IEEE/CS Courses • Adjust SMEs database model for CS CC STC volunteers database – Dennis and Don

  19. Basic Questions • Dorian has mentioned that after the first 5 modules there will be a set of courses on "Security aspect of Cloud" which will use the first 5 as a base. I hope I did not misunderstand this, but if this is the case, could you provide details? • Not the case: the plan to begin looking at some of the EC Council SW Security courseware that is aimed at system and network defense - not Cloud. • What is complete and would be the next steps on the following items from our goals/activities document: • Begin working with Jennifer on objective #1 • Essential Sets – done by staff with no review from this group • What would we expect from CS staff-experts to do on the previous items? • Begin to work with the CC STC to coordinate Society work.

  20. 21 October 2012Day after the first MAW Presentation

  21. Questions • It is the High-Tech Wild, Wild West out there. • Although the CC marketplace is still chaotic, it is: • Exciting • Fast-growing • Full of opportunities
