Cynhaliom: arolygiad byr gydag Arolygiaeth Carchardai Ei Mawrhydi o’r unig uned ar gyfer pobl ifanc sy’n cael eu cadw yn y ddalfa neu wedi’u dedfrydu i garchar yng Nghymru; arolygiad llawn o’r carchar mwyaf yng Nghymru i oedolion; ac adolygiad ar y cyd o’r Gwasanaethau Troseddau Ieuenctid gydag AGGCC ac AGIC. We carried out: a short inspection with HMI prisons of the only unit for remanded and sentenced young people in Wales; a full inspection of the largest prison for adults in Wales; and a joint review of the Youth Offending Services with the CSSIW and HIW. Almost all young people achieve a relevant qualification and progress to a higher level course. The young people’s unit offers an increasingly interesting and relevant range of courses. Young people spend more time than before out of their cells in purposeful activity. In the adult prison, the range of education activities is good but there are too few activity places to enable all prisoners to get employment and education opportunities. Darpariaeth Provision

In the young people’s unit, managers liaise well with schools to enable young people to continue their studies while they are in custody.   7. At ei gilydd, mae byrddau rheoli wedi gwella’u harweinyddiaeth a’u rheolaeth ar wasanaethau troseddau ieuenctid. Nid yw awdurdodau lleol yn monitro safonau a lles y plant a phobl ifanc hyn yn ddigon da o hyd. Overall, management boards have improved their leadership and management of youth offending services. Local authorities still do not monitor well enough the standards and wellbeing of these children and young people.
