RO-RO ACTIVITIES Last year, through our Ro-Ro companies, we have succeeded the carriage of almost 90.000 vehicles from Turkey to mainly EU countries over the port of Trieste in Italy.
RO-RO ACTIVITIES We are operating vessels in the Med area between the ports of Istanbul (Haydarpaşa and Ambarlı) and Trieste as well as İzmir (Çeşme) and Trieste.
RO-RO ACTIVITIES Currently, our companies own 12 vessels operating in the Med area. The Turkish-Italian Ro-Ro Line is the fastest growing line in the world and currently is being considered as the first line in the Mediterranean sea as well as being the 6th biggest line in the world.
RO-RO ACTIVITIES With the inclusion of 4 more vessels to be delivered during the course of 2005 - 2006, the investment level in Turkey-Italy line will exceed 700 million Euros.
RO-RO ACTIVITIES We are also very much active in the Black Sea region where we operate 3 Ro-Ro vessels between Samsun (Turkey) and Novorossiysk (Russian Federation) as well as a vessel operating between Zonguldak (Turkey) and Evpatoria (Ukraine), through our Black Sea Ro-Ro company.
RO-RO ACTIVITIES DEVELOPMENT OF TURKEY-ITALY RO-RO LINES
RO-RO ACTIVITIES Total number of vehicles carried by Ro-Ro vessels through the port of Haydarpaşa was 12.500 in the year 1993, while this figure has increased to 90.000 in the year 2004.
RO-RO ACTIVITIES Today, 70% of our transport to Western Europe are realized via Ro-Ro.
RO-RO ACTIVITIES Only in the year of 2004, 6.8 billion ton-km of goods were managed to be shifted from Road to Sea through our Short Sea Shipping services. A major shift from Road to Sea well in harmony with the Marco Polo concept (Modal Shift Action).
RO-RO ACTIVITIES Unaccompanied Transport: A unique application in the sense that since May 1993 drivers utilize air way to Ljubljana, then travel to Trieste port by road following the embarking of their vehicles in Ro-Ro and be at Trieste the same time with the vessel. Thus the driver is able to rest for 2 days after the vehicle is embarked on the ship, enabling an efficient means of transport. In 2004, our 40.000 drivers were transported this way.
EFFICIENT TRANSPORT: SEMI-TRAILER ACTIVITY 57% OF THE VEHICLES TRANSPORTED BY RO-RO VESSELS FROM TURKEY TO EUROPE ARE SEMI-TRAILERS.
