Attainment Level 8 = A* 7 = A 6 = B 5 = C 4 = D 3 = E 2 = F 1 = G The GCSE grade that your son/daughter is predicted to achieve by their subject teacher at the end of Year 11 if they continue to work their current rate of progress
Attainment Level (In-between levels) 6.3 = B 6 = B 5.8 = C 5.5 = C 5.3 = C 5.0 = C 4.8 = D 4.5 = D Grade B, but very borderline High Grade C, almost a B Secure Grade C Grade C, not yet secure Grade C, but very borderline
Target Levels 8 = A* 7 = A 6 = B 5 = C 4 = D 3 = E 2 = F 1 = G Use the same numerical system as the attainment levels (including in-between levels)
Target Levels Fischer Family Trust (FFT) are an organisation who specialise in modelling data and providing estimates of future performance in a range of fields, including education. Most schools in the country make use of FFT estimates to set targets at student level and whole-school level. OfSTED would expect schools to be setting rigorous and robust targets at all levels using FFT data.
Target Levels FFT provide schools with a range of estimates as follows: Type A Based on student prior attainment and gender Type B Based on student prior attainment, gender and school context Type C Based on student prior attainment, gender, school context and student context Type D Type C estimates, which have been adjusted to reflect the progress of the top 25% of schools nationally
Target Levels A student’s target level is derived from their Type D estimate Type D Type C estimates, which have been adjusted to reflect the progress of the top 25% of schools nationally
