  2. Timetable • 8 hour work days, 45 min/hour • 6 hours of full work, 2 hours for breaks • 2 coffee breaks, lunch break • 9.5. 9-17 • 10.5. 9-17 • 15.5. 10-18 • 16.5. 9-17

  3. Aims • Understanding basic philosophy of statistical inference • Ability to choose appropriate approach • Ability to solve simple approach • Ability to understand research papers

  4. Teaching & learning • Lectures • Presentation about the theory and worked examples: make notes, everything is not in the slides! • Demonstrations • Walk-throughs with software: follow carefully • Exercises • Work at your own speed, discuss with others, ask for advice • Generally • stop and ask every time you feel the need for clarification – most likely others are wondering about the same stuff!

  5. Completing the course • 3 credit points can be earned by • Participating at least 75% of the lectures and practical exercises and • Completing correctly at least 50% of a set of homework exercises
