  3. School Psychology in District211 School psychology has played an important role in District 211 since well before the advent of P.L.94- 142. The district has long appreciated the contributions school psychologists make not only in addressing the educational needs of students with disabilities but in facilitating the education and development of all students. The district employs 17 school psychologists in its five high schools and two therapeutic day school buildings. School psychologists have important and varied roles in District 211. They provide many clinical/counseling services in addition to the psychodiagnostic, special education-related, and other duties often performed by school psychologists. They also, however, have significant oversight responsibilities, including chairing IEP meetings, serving as the local education agency representative at those meetings, consulting with parents and staff members as to special education, mental health, and child protection laws, policies, procedures, etc. School psychologists provide a wide array of services including consultation, counseling, assessment, crisis intervention, prevention, in-service training, program development, andresearch.

  4. School Psychology in District211 Psychologists have played a significant role in the development and implementation of the MTSS supports in all five buildings. District 211 is committed to training school psychology interns as a contribution to the profession, to its future practitioners, and to the students and families that will be served by those District 211 trains. We welcome the opportunity to make this contribution, and we take seriously our obligation to provide a thorough and rewarding trainingexperience. District 211 has been an ISPICpartnering site since 2006 and trains 1-2 interns per year in the high schools and/or the therapeutic programs. The district has successfully retained several ISPIC program completers and supported their early careerpursuits.

A typical week of training consistsof: • A minimum of two hours of supervision from the clinical psychologist – the supervision session provides support and direction for the experiences that the intern will be engaged in during the schoolweek. • Counseling casemanagement • Psychodiagnostic test administration and clinical evaluation of students for evaluation of continued or initial eligibility for special educationservices • Crisisresponse • Learning special education law and applying it at Individual Education Planmeetings • Attending daily staffmeetings • Shadowing other psychologists • Attending general staff trainings and attending their elementary school rotationonce • perweek. • In summer, interns help support students in summer school, are assigned several case studies, and can use their remaining time to work on their dissertation & comprehensive assignments forISPIC.   13. Supervision Formal supervision occurs in the main supervisor’s office on a weeklybasis. Since the supervisor and intern offices are often close to each other this proximity allows for unlimited informal supervision and access for daily support (ex.-questions that may arise on a dailybasis).   16. Main Office & ClericalStaff This is themainoffice. Clerical staff in the front office provide support to psychologists/interns for meetings, maintaining records, and general communications. Student records are accessible in the adjoiningoffice. INSERT PICTUREOF SUPPLIES/OFFICEHERE

  17. Materials &Equipment Our interns have access to their own advanced technology devices: a personal laptop, a videophone, a personal iPad, smart fax machine, a new Xerox document machine/scanner/copier, a wide range of reference books,etc.
