Purpose • Drop-Out Prevention and Credit Recovery • Least Restrictive Educational Environment • Chapter 222
1. Drop Out Prevention/Credit Recovery • Provide online and small group classes • Additional layer of personalized support for at- risk students • Re-entry for students after extended absence • Address the gradual rise in mental health issues related to depression and anxiety
2. Least Restrictive Environment • Leverage existing networksand relationships • Greater range and quality of academic and social emotional resources to surround and support students and families • Ability to transition into and out of an alternative setting and into mainstream
3. In year 1, we estimate serving approximately 20-30 students • 70-80% we expect will attend one or more classes outside the Alternative Program • 20-30% may have hybrid schedules, i.e. partial day, work study, on-line, one or two regular classes • 0-5% of students who, for disciplinary reasons (37h 37h½, 37h ¾), are re-assigned to the PM program 3-5 p.m.
