  3. Review – Multimedia PPTs • PowerPoint files can embed pictures, text, and simple sounds • PowerPoint cannot embed MP3 & movie files. Instead it links to the separate music and movie files • When making multimedia PPT, first put all files – movie, music, ppt – into a folder • Travel with that folder • Zip the folder if it must go online

  4. Review – Music defaults • Sound files are set by default to shut off on the next mouse click • If you want sounds to play across multiple slides, you much change the default • >Animation >Custom Animation >Effect Options

  5. Review -- Video • Download from Youtube using Firefox and the Download helper plugin • The movie will be in .FLV (Flash video), which is incompatible with PowerPoint • Convert the movie to .WMV format (Windows) by either using SUPER or uploading the .FLV to an online media converter

  6. Video formats • MPEG-1, -2, (-3), -4 • Motion Picture Experts Group • AVI • Audio Video format that is smaller • WMV • Windows Movie File • MOV, MP4 is M4A M4P, M4V = iPod video • Apple movie format • FLV • Flash video • RAM • Real Player format
