Major achievements 2006-2007 • Scientific Steering Committee installed, 3 meetings by now • International Program Office formally opened in Jan. 2006 in Beijing • The MAIRS science plan drafting workshop in April, 2006 in Kunming, China. • MAIRS accepted as the first IRS of ESSP, Oct, 2006 • MAIRS Initial Science plan (WP1) published in Oct, 2006 • MAIRS Initial Science plan in Chinese (WP2) published in Jun, 2007 • MAIRS mountain group report (WP3) published in Jun, 2007 • MAIRS urban group report (WP4) be published in Oct. • MAIRS Special issue (AAS) coming soon Tokyo Bay

  15. MAIRS international workshop on Anthropogenic changes of Asian Monsoon (Co-sponsored by MAHASRI/GEWEX, AAMP/CLIVAR and START in 21-24, April 2008, Nanjing, China). Key topics: 1, Asian monsoon in a warming earth 2, Impacts of various air pollutants, especially aerosols, on monsoon and hydrological cycles 3, Impacts of human-induced land cover change (via bio-geophysics and biogeochemical processes of the land surface) on Asian monsoon 4, Drivers of aerosols emission and land cover changes in monsoon Asia MAIRS Important events in 2008 Tokyo Bay
