  4. Medical Practices Roman medicine was greatly influenced by the Greeks. They used bugs, plants, and stones that were suspected to help you. Amulets were worn to help patients. The Green Jasper was thought to help stomach pain. Doctors used blood letting. It was supposed to let the patient bleed their disease out of their blood stream.

  5. There Experiments The Roman doctors used a lot of herbs in their medicine. They put all sorts of substances I the stuff the towns people ate or drank. For example wine. If they thought or wondered what a mint leaf could do, they would crush some up or put the oil into the wine. With out telling the person who consumed it, they gained their knowledge by the outcome. Some people turned out fine. Ill, terribly sick, or few actually died. That is how they learned what can help you and what could hurt you.
