Accessing Course Planner for Essex District High School Grade 9 Registration

Welcome to the Essex District High School Course Planner! This guide helps future Grade 9 students navigate the online Course Planner, where you can select your courses based on Grade 8 teacher recommendations. Access the Course Planner at www.essexdistricthighschool.com. Use your student number as the username and your birthdate as the password. Follow the steps to choose compulsory courses like English, Math, and Science, as well as option courses based on your interests. Make sure to submit your choices before the deadline!

  2. Career Cruising Portfolio – Grade 8Class of 2015 Career Research, Pathways & “Course Planner” (internet based program)

  3. How Do I Access “Course Planner”? Go to: www.essexdistricthighschool.com

  4. Future Grade 9 Students

  5. Review if necessary, Then click on “Register”

  6. Here is the first thing you will see: USERNAME = ge-StudentNumber PASSWORD = Birth date: mmddyyyy Click on “LOG IN” View demo video here

  7. Check out: - various Menu Tabs available ..… - you have full access to “Career Cruising” .... continue to “Course Planner” for now

  8. STEP 1: Decide on “Compulsory Course” levels • English, Math, Science, Geography, French, Phys Ed • Complete “EDHS Grade 9 Program of Study” handout in packages and base choices on Grade 8 Teacher recommendations

  9. STEP 2: Select “Compulsory Course” levels • Start with English by clicking on sign inside box • Be sure to base choice on Grade 8 Teacher recommendations

  10. STEP 2: Selecting levels (continued) • Choose level for English by clicking on sign inside box for the appropriate level (base on Grade 8 Teacher recommendations). • Hovering cursor over course name will display course description.

  11. STEP 2: Selecting levels (continued) • Continue with remaining courses by clicking on sign for each • For Phys Ed, choose proper gender (male or female) • to make a change, click on the sign for that selection

  12. STEP 3: Select “Option” courses • You will need to select 2 options & 1 alternate of the 5 available • base choices on interests and future plans

  13. STEP 3: Selecting Options (continued) • You will need to choose 2 options. • Hovering cursor over course name will display course description.

  14. When all courses have been selected: • Click on “Submit” at bottom of column

  15. - Read message and click “Submit” to continue • note period for “Sign-Off” phase – afterFeb 7th changes can be made until “Sign-Off Sheet” is printed - correct any errors if there are any shown......

  16. Once printed, choices are locked in – be sure of choices! • This is your formal “Sign-Off Sheet” – print this page after Feb 7th using the printer icon at the top tool bar • Note the following: • bar code across top • credit history and grad requirements • course selections with notes/alternates • signature lines

  17. You may only print your “Sign Off” sheet during the FINAL SUBMISSION period • At Essex DHS these are the important dates: Course Selection STARTS: February 1 , 2011 (tentative) Sign-Off Sheet Submission BEGINS: February 7, 2011 On-Line Course Submission Period ENDS: February 16, 2011
