  2. Recognizing Motion • An object is in motion if the distance relative to another object is changing • This is dependent on your point of view (Theory of Relativity) • Reference point is a place to tell if you are moving • (+) and (-) signs are used to indicate direction

  3. Distance and Displacement • Distance is the length between two points • Four kilometers from Marsh Jr. to Bidwell Jr. • Displacement is length and direction • Bidwell Jr. is two kilometers north from Marsh Jr. • Vectors are used to show displacement
