1. Hot works Works to be carried out by College Staff Works to be carried out by approved contractor Provide job specific risk assessment and method statement and complete a site induction. Advise HOD or Deputy of hot works to be completed Head of Department or Deputy check assessments Ensure 2 fire extinguishers and heat mat in place Must include No works 1 hour before completion of works, 2 fire extinguishers in place. Head of Department or Deputy to issue permit to works including any additional controls required. Inform Porters Lodge who will issue smoke detector covers Permit must be signed daily for duration of works Inform porters lodge each day of works to be carried out. They will issue smoke detector covers Carry out works Carry out works HOD or deputy may carry out inspection visits during works Regular checks to be made on area when works completed at least every 10-15 minutes for 1 hour 1 hour prior to end of days work, no hot works should be carried out 1 hour prior to end of days work, no hot works should be carried out Regular checks to be made on area when works completed at least every 10-15 minutes for 1 hour At the end of each hot work session, remove the smoke detector cover, return to Porters Lodge and request additional porters patrol visit At the end of each hot work session, remove the smoke detector cover, return to Porters Lodge and request additional porters patrol visit Actions of college staff On completion of works permit should be signed as complete by HOD or deputy.
