  1. Diaphragm The diaphragm is a shallow silicone cup that blocks sperm from reaching the cervix with the help of spermicide. It is 82% effective against pregnancy. They do not protect from STIs whatsoever.

  2. IUD A small, t-shaped object inserted into the uterus to prevent sperm from reaching an egg, or prevents an egg from being released. It is 99% effective against pregnancy, but not at all protective against STIs.

  3. Condom A latex tube worn on the penis during intercourse to prevent sperm and other fluids from reaching the vagina or other skin. Condoms are about 82% effective against pregnancy. They highly reduce the risk of STI transfers, but are not absolutely effective.

  4. Genital Herpes A virus that causes itchy and painful blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. Can be prevented through condoms, safe sex, and a single sex partner.
