Epithelial Cells

Epithelial cells serve crucial roles in the body, acting as protective layers for underlying tissues against harmful agents such as radiation, toxins, and physical trauma. They facilitate essential chemical exchanges between tissues and body cavities, regulate hormone secretion into the vascular system, and produce mucus, enzymes, and sweat through specialized glands. Additionally, epithelial cells are vital for sensation, allowing us to perceive stimuli through our nervous system. Key organelles within these cells include mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and Golgi apparatus, which aid in their diverse functions.
