Essential Classroom Computer Rules for Students
Students must adhere to specific rules regarding computer use in the classroom to ensure a productive learning environment. This includes not modifying any system settings, using flash drives only with teacher permission, and avoiding eating or drinking in the lab. Downloading files or programs without permission is prohibited, as is using the internet during class, unless for an assignment. Students are also responsible for keeping the lab clean. Following these guidelines will help maintain our beautiful new lab and support everyone’s learning experience.

Students may not modify any settings on the computer. This includes printer settings, screen savers, desktop wallpaper, and desktop icons. If you accidentally change something, notify the teacher immediately. • Students may not use flash drives without permission from the teacher. If permission is granted the drive will be scanned for viruses prior to use.
No eating or drinking in lab • Do not download sound files to the hard drive. They take up a great deal of space and are not necessary for learning. • Students may not use the internet without permission during class time unless it is for part of an assignment.
Proofread documents from the screen before printing. Do not waste printer ink for drafts. • If you accidently print something and need to stop it, turn off the printer and notify the teacher immediately. DO NOT modify printer settings or try to figure it out on your own.
Do not download programs or plug-ins for the computer without permission. No games can be downloaded. • If your computer freezes or does something unusual, notify the teacher immediately. • Students should keep the lab clean. Scrap paper, misprinted papers, and homework assignments should not be left on the desks or in the desks.
Note: Computer stations will be checked from time to time for unauthorized programs and modifications. We have a beautiful new lab- let’s keep it that way!
