Classroom Performance System (CPS) A Dynamic Tool
CPS a dynamic tool • Much more versatile than we realized • Presently used for post and pre tests • Other possibilities • Review during class • Interfaces with PowerPoint • Today’s demonstration • PowerPoint • An integrated question
Advantages of CPS • Immediate feedback from the students • Highlights most important points • Reduces student inhibition • Adds variety to class • Keeps students’ attention • Easily interfaces with WebCT • Response data logged automatically
Using CPS with PowerPoint • CPS is running in the background • Now open the PowerPoint File • When the question slide appears • Choose MC A-D (for a 4 choice MC question) • The question grid appears automatically • Student can start responding • A histograph shows students’ responses
100 mg/dl = ____ • 0.1 mg/mL • 1 mg/mL • 10 mg/mL • 10 mg/L Example
Integrating Questions within CPS • Choose the question to display • Opens the question with the answer choices • Click start to let students start responding • Can set a timer to automatically close the question • Must manually display the histograph • Good for short string of questions • Example
Reports in CPS • Question Report – Individual student responses for each question • Response Report – Response rate for the whole class • WebCT Export – Format compatible with WebCT • Question Grid Export – Displays how each student responded
Other uses of CPS in Pharmacy • Pharmacy Management Pretests - Dr. Jackson • End of class review – Dr. Kissack • Calculations review – Drs. Hixson-Wallace and Strom • Preparedness for P4 Survey – IPA Committee
