  4. Ice Schedules – The Guiding Principles

  5. Complaints – then and now 2005-06 Not enough ice Not enough solo ice 9:45-10:45pm practices (29) 9:30-10:30pm practices (71) Before school practices (32) 6am weekend practices (35) Driving out of District 112 Too many Wed nights/Sun AMs 2011-12 Not enough ice Not enough solo ice 9:45-10:45pm practices(1) 9:30-10:30pm practices (6) Before school practices (0) 6am weekend practices (0) Driving out of District 112 Too many Wed nights/Sun AMs

  6. Sample Week At both facilities, we get the ice after high school teams & public programs. 35% of our weeknight hours start at 8:45pm or later This is a display of the worst-case scenario week (lots of HS games!) So…not everyone can skate from 6-8pm – therefore we rotate teams fairly through undesirable times

  7. High School Teams • Edina - 4 HS teams on 3+ sheets ice • Eden Prairie – 4 HS teams on 3 sheets ice • Minnetonka 4 HS teams on (approx) 3 sheets ice • Shakopee 4 HS teams on 1 sheet ice • CCHA – 9 HS teams on 4 sheets ice (ouch)

  8. Practice Schedules • Released every 4-6 weeks • We alert Mgrs when we’re about to schedule • November in process, target Oct 21st • Tell me dates to block, we work around you! • We do our best to honor requests • We use every hour of available ice • After release - No turnbacks on ice • Courtesy note – if you do bail, please notify me. Someone might really want that ice touch.

  9. Expectations – PW/12Us • 1 schoolnight practice per week off the ice 10pm or later • No Lates the night before a game or tourney • 4 touches per week minimum all teams • 5-6 touches per week for AA/A/B1 levels • Expect to skate every Sat and Sun • 12 hours between touches from eve to next day • 4 hours between touches in a single day • Evenly assign Lates, Wed, Sun ams and early mornings • No more than 3 day gap (desired) • No more than 5 days in a row

  10. Finding a Date • You will skate every Sat & Sun • If you want a home scrimmage pick an open weekend date and ask • We don’t have enough ice to host weeknight scrimmages (sometimes Fridays OK) • Skills Clinics are mandatory please schedule around them

  11. Scrimmage Guidelines • Consult with your coach • Don’t do reciprocal scrimmages – have each team pay ½ cost of refs and ice • We do not have ice for home weeknight scrimmages – please ask for weekend only

  12. Controlled Scrimmage • You can do a controlled scrimmage with a CCHA team or a non-CCHA team (must be same level) • Coach from each team must be on the ice with skates and helmet • You may not run the clock or keep a scoresheet • Do not upload a score on your team page • Coaches are encouraged to stop play to give instruction • If you have questions, consult the D6 Handbook or ASK

  13. Scrimmage Notes • Scoresheets must be turned in for all scrimmages on D6 ice • Referees must be hired if you use the scoreboard • D6 Referees must be hired if you bought the ice. $20 extra per ref if out of circle.(example: Your team and and Eden Prairie go down to Mankato and buy ice, scrimmage and then go to a Mavericks game. You must use D6 referees and pay the surcharge. Recommended: if you go out of the circle, have the non D6 team buy the ice, then they will schedule the refs) THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL • If you have any doubts, consult the D6 Handbook or ASK

  14. Steps to Schedule a Scrimmage • Go to www.d6hockey.net to schedule • Go to www.arbitersports.com to verify refs • Confirm rates at www.d6hockey.net • Pay refs before scrimmage starts

  15. Sample Scoresheet

  16. Scoresheet/Timeclock Training • Kyle is available to do scoresheet/timeclock training during one of your practices • Training takes one full hour • It’s fun to run the clock – try it!

  17. Rosters THE ICE NO ONE should be on the ice except rostered players and coaches. No Team Managers. No siblings. No high school players. No moms, no parent/kid games, etc.  If there is a student helper you must contact the Registrar ASAP! There are age requirements and other information that will need to be completed and approved.

  18. Rosters • FORMS • Only ONE form to collect this season: • Consent to Treat - all players please remind parents to bring their medical card if you are having them complete these forms at a Parent/Team meeting. You will collect and deliver these to Registrar. Due dates on the team manager home page. Leave in bin outside my house, 8750 Cty Rd 43, Chaska MN 55318. • All other forms were embedded into the CCHA player registration process (Player, Parent & Coach Code of Conduct & Concussion Awareness Article and Acknowledgment Form) • Birth Certificates – most were validated and automated during the last 2 seasons, however, they may be missing certs or new players. If you need to collect I will let you know via email.

  19. Rosters • SCRIMMAGES • If you are going to scrimmage let me know before the scrimmage and I will send you a roster marked “ temporary”. Once you receive your team manager book you can toss the temporary. • TEAM MANAGER FOLDERS • When they are ready for pick-up Tammy will notify you via email of designated pick-up times. She cannot leave on her front step. • DO NOT LOSE YOUR FOLDER • FOLDER MUST GO TO EVERY TOURNAMENT for roster and birth date validation

  20. Rosters • ROSTER • New this year - Do not need any signatures on the Rosters • V column - if it is blank the birth cert copy has been verified and stamped by District 6. • w column – & indicates the waiver was received when the player was registered at USA Hockey. • If there is ONE asterisk next to the players name – they are playing at that level as a peer placement based on our CCHA policy. • If coaches ask you about their CEP (Coaching Education Program) expiration date it’s listed next to their name
