  4. What is Faith? • Not proof, but conviction • pistis (n. faith) / pisteuo (v. believe) “to consider something reliable and worthy of trust” • peitho = to persuade, convince • faith/belief = assurance/conviction • opposite of faith is not doubt but disbelief
