  5. Problems over the new ceiling • ARCECLIMA installed additional supports • EN-EL installed an additional longitudinal cable tray over the ceiling (below the ducts, but over the existing structure), to be used by the users instead of the one over the ducts • ECOFRED reinforced the damaged ceiling panels adding a platform along the main passage over stiffening profiles. The reinforcement of the rest of the ceiling will be done this week

  6. EN-EL Work Package • EN-EL almost completed their WP. • On 11/07 there were still some problems with one 16A sockets. This problem is caused by a problem to the differential in the switchboard EBD637/1R • The replacement of one of the lights below the roof has to be scheduled as soon as the light arrive at CERN • Some cables over the existing ceiling need to be slightly re-routed • Users requested to have new and old floor at the same potential. This requires an intervention that will be done tomorrow

  7. SMB Work Package • SMB completed the ESD flooring with epoxy resin • Several small details need to be adjusted inside the cleanroom: • All the openings for cables must be covered with steel plates (scheduled for today) • All the rectangular plates must be covered and sealed (coverage is done, sealing not yet) • Along the full length of the building, the gap between the epoxy resin and the old floor must be covered with a rigid thin joint that can avoid the step. SMB could provide a 2.7mm thick aluminium strip. Finally TC decided to use a 0.5mm thick stainless steel strip, that will be installed this week • Road painting needs to be scheduled as soon as possible

  8. Various updates • Fire detection commissioning has been scheduled for 24/07/2018: • ECOFRED validation (done by an external company) will perform the following tests in the room R-C04-B on 26/07/2018: • AIRFLOW TEST: The object is to determine the air supply flow and the number of air movements per hour • PRESSURE TEST: Verify the overpressure • PARTICLE TEST: To determine air cleanliness (ISO-8) • TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY TEST: Verify that the setpoint is fulfilled • LIGHT LEVEL TEST: Check the light level specified in the design is fulfilled • ARCECLIMA is testing the HVAC system and adding the insulation over the pipes • SAFETY inspection for the project is not yet scheduled

  9. Current status of the project • Working on the ceiling is now possible except in the marked areas. • Max load on OLD ceiling: Unknown  80 kg/m2 distributed • Max load on NEW ceiling: 150 kg/m2distributed • Max 3 people over the entire ceiling • Min distance between 2 people is 2m EXCEEDING THESE LIMITSIS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN • BE-ICS will do the commissioning tomorrow • EN-EL will complete the few missing details this week. Electrical Safety inspection scheduled on Friday • ARCECLIMA is working on the balancing and fine tuning. • SMB will complete the few missing details this week. Painting on the road (parking places, etc.) postponed in July or August • ECOFRED will do the final validation on Thursday

  15. SR1 cleanroom extension – PBS (Product Breakdown Structure)

  16. Safety coordinator John Robert Etheridge John.Etheridge@cern.ch (164647) is the safety coordinator of P1. He will help TC to ensure that all the works will be done according to the CERN safety rules. For all WPs, a VIC shall be prepared after the design phase and presented by the responsible of each WP to the safety coordinator beforestarting the works. John is invited to this follow-up meeting so that he can be informed about on-going activities and can control that all foreseen/incoming activities are properly planned from the safety point of view.

  17. Power consumption • The Users are planning to test in the SR1 cleanroom 1/8 of the entire ITk services • On 28/11/2017 TC had a meeting together with the Users (Dave, Susanne, Kendall) and EN-EL (Thierry) trying to better understand the situation. The results of the meeting are listed below: • For the moment it is not yet known the amount of power that will be required: • PP2s are not yet designed • An additional chiller will be required, but still not defined • In SR1 there are: • one (existing) switchboard (EBD5/1R) of 630 kVA (≈580 kW and 910 A) serving the racks area and the HVAC. The measures done show that between 12/2013 and 06/2017 the average served current was 180 A, with peak values around 360 A. This switchboard has several spare circuits that can be used. If the new HVAC system will have the same power consumption of the actual one (230 kW), there should be at least 350 kW available • one (new) switchboard of 250 A serving the cleanroom power outlets

  18. Reinforcement of the ceiling

  19. CV balance sheet for power dissipation Updated on 15/08/2017

  20. AUG - AUL buttons • According to EN-EL, Currently in SR1 there are at least 9 AUG buttons: • 2 in the cleanroom • 1 in the control room • 1 in the test area • 3 in the racks area • 1 close to the big door • The 2 AUG buttons of the clean room have been temporary removed for the works • Despite during last meeting, it has been proposed to place AUL instead of AUG, given the suggestions of EN-EL and due to the high costs (≈60k CHF), TC has discarded the AUL solution

  21. ECOFRED proposed reinforcement The reinforcement will be done using Omega profiles (120mm high) laying over the ceiling as close as possible to the junctions between panels. Over these profiles a 1m wide platform will be added to allow people walking along the ceiling and working on the various ducts, electric boxes, etc. ACCEPTED The ceiling reinforcement will start on 09/07/2018

  22. Position of AUG in SR1 cleanroom ACCEPTED AUG Already installed AUG To be installed

  23. Safety lights proposal Existing safety lights Additional safety lights proposed by TC ACCEPTED Approved by HSE

  24. Problem with double door on partitioning wall OLD ACCEPTED The previous version of the double door was in front of a fixed structure. It has been accepted to move it in between the two windows even if it will be facing a pillar

  25. Position of lights switches in SR1 cleanroom ACCEPTED

  26. Lights switches Each spot ( ) will contain one two-button switch Each switch should be embedded in the wall and as much as possible airtight. ECOFRED suggested that the switches shall have an International Protection Marking at least IP54. EN-EL proposes to install the following type: ACCEPTED The basic idea is: One button turns on/off all the lights in the extension and the second button turns on/off all the lights in the existing portion

  27. Position of power sockets in SR1 cleanroom ACCEPTED

  28. Power sockets As already agreed, each spot ( ) will contain: • 4x 220V - 16A (CH standard) • 1x 400V - 32A Local differential switch will be installed on the new switchboard Each sockets should be embedded in the wall and as much as possible airtight. ECOFRED suggested that the power sockets shall have an International Protection Marking at least IP54. EN-EL proposes to install the following type: ACCEPTED

  29. Position of Ethernet sockets in SR1 cleanroom ACCEPTED Single socket Double socket

  30. Ethernet sockets Each spot ( ) will contain one double socket and each spot ( ) one single socket Each Ethernet socket should be embedded in the wall and as much as possible airtight. ECOFRED suggested that the Ethernet sockets shall have an International Protection Marking at least IP54. IT-CS proposes to install the following type: ACCEPTED

  31. Sockets plate It has been agreed to add all the sockets (Electrical and IT) on a custom plate. This will allow to have one single hole in the wall/enclosure for each spot. The custom plate has been designed by EN-EL and TC and accepted by IT and the users. The agreed height of the plate from the floor is 500mm (center). The revised version is shown below. Dimensions will be confirmed ASAP. ACCEPTED

  32. Lighting • The current lighting level in the actual cleanroom is 400 lx. • Due to the absence of external windows and natural lighting the Swiss law requires as compensatory measure to have at least 600 lx, with a C.R.I. ≥ 90 and a color temperature between 5300 K and 6500 K • Users (Danilo) requested a lighting level of at least 1000 lx (see email on 20/10/2017). • ECOFRED will provide the following lighting system: • LED lighting units with a C.R.I. = 90 and a color temperature of 6500 K • Lighting level of at least 1000 lx at the working place with a Uniformity Ratio of 0,7 ACCEPTED

  33. Taken decisions ACCEPTED On 14/11/2017 HSE gave the green light for the layout of the parking places shown in the picture above

  34. Proposal 3 for CV inlet duct encapsulation No encapsulation Encapsulation V3 ACCEPTED • Only the duct, the small pillar and the central cross of the metallic structure are encapsulated • The opening for grounding proposed by EN-EL must be displaced by 150mm • Worse for cleanliness point of view (inclined surfaces can collect the dust) • Smaller surface lost in the cleanroom: 1.33 m2on the floor and 2.77 m2 from 2.3m from the floor

  35. Cable trays and enclosures ACCEPTED

  36. Antistatic floor of the extension • SMB proposed the following flooring solution: • A first layer (primer) made of: Sikafloor 161 • A middle layer (with antistatic properties): Sikafloor 220 W Conductive (RG: 103≤ R ≤ 104Ω) • An upper layer (protective and ESD): Sikafloor 262 AS N (RG≤ 106Ω) • According to Sylvain, the proposed solution is more than enough for the purposes of the cleanroom. • Users agreed to this proposal (see email from Kendall on 10/09/2017) • SMB can proceed with this solution ACCEPTED

  37. New proposal for CV inlet duct ACCEPTED The blue duct now is not crossing anymore the room over the ceiling, but below the floor The big mobile sink has been temporarily disconnected and displaced The position of the lighting units must be updated Two proposals for the encapsulation of the ducts (see next slides)

  38. Position of the permanent fan coils for R-C04-A Left Right ACCEPTED • EN-CV will dismount the current grills (when possible/useful). • The two proposed locations for the fan coils of the permanent AHU in the test room are shown in the above pictures. • They have been approved by Kendall on 16/08/2017 and by Didier on 21/08/2017. Dimensions of each unit: Width: 1600mm Height: 700mm Depth: 300mm This will be removed by EN-CV To be displaced by the users To be displaced by the users

  39. Temporary AHU in R-C04-A • This temporary AHU will be placed outside SR1 (back side) to supply fresh air (hot and cold) in the test room (R-C04-A). The unit will be in use from November 2017 to June 2018. More details and information about the TSH060 unit can be found here

  40. Electrical matters • Current 160A switchboard will be replaced by a 250A switchboard (maximum possible considering actual electrical consumption, future general needs and current transformer capacity). • The order for the new switchboard has been sent on 07/07/2017. Total cost is ≈35kCHF • According to Thierry calculations (see email of 30/06/0217) a maximum of six 380V-32A sockets can be used simultaneously in exceptional cases: • 4 devices running on 380V-32A sockets can work at the same time with no constraints • It should be possible to add 2 more temporary • Grounding works are completed

  41. Schedule for ITk Pixel tests in SR1 • April-August 2017: test of prototype with one full cooling line ~375 W in SR1 (August 2017) • September 2017: commissioning of system setup in SR1 (power needed, few days of outage can be discussed, CO2 partially needed for commissioning) • October-November 2017: assembly of prototype in SR1 (power and CO2 needed, days of outage can be discussed) • November 2017-November 2018: systematic evaluation of demonstrator in SR1, dedicated test bench for comparison of DAQ, readouts, powering, cooling (power and CO2 needed). Short periods of outage can be discussed: a possible solution is to run power extension cables from the nearest building, if needed(tbc)

  42. Schedule for ITkStrips tests in SR1 • April-September 2017: Testing of pre and post irradiated modules in SR1 + Testing cold (-35°C) with chiller • September-December 2017: assembly of parts for system test setup for a Strip Stave in SR1 • January-November 2018: Commissioning of system tests of a stave (CO2 cooling, interlock, DCS, DAQ, cabling) As agreed with Susanne and Jens, short periods of outage can be discussed

  43. Taken decisions • Services cannot arrive from below the fake floor into the pillars: pillars do not go through the fake floor, but they are loading the concrete floor. Openings are present in the concrete floor, but far away from the pillars. • The only possible solution is to run the cables over the ceiling and enter from there into the enclosures. • Cable trays and enclosures shall not cross the rails in order not to lower the ceiling in the assembly region. • The users required to have a minimum height of the ceiling of 3.7 m • The option of lowering the current ceiling (panels are 4.15m high) has been discarded

  44. Taken decisions • The clean room will be ISO 8 according to ISO 14644-1 • All cable trays shall be covered • WP3 (EN/EL) will take care of all the cable trays related to main electrical services, while WP4 (TC) will take care of the cable trays for electrical controls. Users shall specify their needs ASAP • ESD precaution will be obtained with mats, people grounding and NO new antistatic floor is foreseen in the radiation lab • The SR1 radiation lab can be used by ITk tasks, but needs to be cleared with 1-2 months notice in case of TC/detector needs during EYETS

  45. Taken decisions • 13 power boxes will be installed by EN/EL. One power box at each of the 4 pillars between existing room and extension (the central pillar will be removed) and one power box every 3-4 m on the wall (evenly distributed). Each power box shall have at least: • 4x 220V - 16A (CH standard) • 1x 400V - 32A • Local differential switch for each sockets group (one for 4 sockets 230V-16A  and one for socket 400V-32A) • 2 existing sockets boxes will be kept on UPS network (in the pillars area). No additional sockets on UPS network are required • Existing UPS network details: 100kVA lasting approx10 minutes at 80kW (see email from Thierry sent on 28/06/2017) • LED Lighting providing ≈1000 lux

  46. Taken decisions • EN-CV will switch off the air conditioning and ventilation for at least 6 months (schedule should meet SMB’s one) • EN-EL will switch off the electricity for small periods of time (schedule should meet global schedule and users’ schedule) • Overpressure targets: • Overpressure of extended clean room (R-C04-B) is ≥15 Pa • Overpressure of radiation lab (R-C14) is ≥15 Pa • No overpressure in the test zone (R-C04-A), changing room (R-202), other areas • Overpressures of R-C04-B and R-C14 can be manually regulated in order to create slight overpressure of the clean room over the radiation lab if needed

  47. External windows requirement from HSE • The building extension is not compliant with the Swiss law, due to the absence of external views and natural lighting • HSE required to TC a formal approval process • On 11/10/2017 TC sent to HSE the Users’ motivation to justify the absence of external window and natural lighting. The motivation is the following: While assembling the ITk, we will be working with glues and epoxies that will require very stable conditions with respect to temperature and humidity.  Windows allowing light to enter will make that more difficult to manage.  Also, we will want to test detector components multiple times during the assembly process, but their performance is temperature dependent.  Having a local change in temperature of one or two degrees will alter detector performances in an observable way, which complicates performance comparisons.  Our objective of building the best, most reliable detector possible demands a high level of stability and control of the environment in which we build it. • TC and HSE prepared the document for the approval process. The document was circulated on 30/10/2017. On 02/11/2017 TC received the green light to proceed from HSE. The approved derogation can be found here on EDMS.
