What is RFID technology? • RFID stands for RadioFrequencyIDentification • BIS stands for BalluffIdentificationSystem • Used to track and identify products, objects, resources, persons, production, materials, etc. • Transfer ID information by wireless radio transmission between a portable memory device called a “Tag/ Data carrier” and a host. • An RFID System requires three componentsto operate: 1.Data Carrier (Tag) 2. Read / Write Head 3. RFID Processor

What is RFID technology? • The Data Carrier (Tag) • is the actual data carrying device of an RFID system containing write capable memory based on EEPROM or FRAM technology • is located on the object to be identified • The ”Read / Write -Head” • powers the tag • transfers data to/from the tag via inductive coupling • The “Processor” • controls / powers the heads • communicates to the outside process
