  1. تحضير وتشخيص بعض مشتقات البوليمرات الطبيعية الدوائية • Synthesis and characterization of Natural drug polymer derivatives • Prof.Dr. FiryalM.Ali • 2014-2015

  2. Introduction :- The use of functional polymers in medicine has seen considerable growth during the past two decades. Polymers as biomaterials have found applications in such areas as artificial organs, tissue engineering, components of medical devices, and dentistry. The synthetic polymers with biological materials can also be favorable and desirable. Increasing attention has been paid to development of systems to deliver drugs for long time period at controlled rates. The goal of many polymeric drug systems was to achieve a delivery profile that would yield a high blood level of the drug over a long period of time, with traditional tablets or injections, the drug level in the blood follows the profile shown in Fig. (1.1) Controlled drug systems are designed for long term administration, the drug level in the blood follows the profile shown in Fig. (1.2) remaining constant, between the desired maximum and minimum, for an extended period of delivery

  3. Maximum desired level Drug level Minimum effective level Time Dose Fig. (1.1): Drug level in blood with traditional drug dosing

  4. Maximum desired level Drug level Minimum effective level Time Dose Fig. (1.2): Drug level in blood with controlled delivery dosing.

  5. An ideal polymeric carrier system for use in intravascular systems is expected to be. (i) blood-compatible (does not cause undesirable events e.g., thrombus or emboli formation, complement activation); (ii) Circulate in the blood stream without causing embolization at capillaries. (iii) Escape from excretion in the kidneys. • (iv) Release the drug, preferentially at the target area and a desired rate. . • (v) Degrade in vivo during or after drug release

  6. The novel products was characterize by FTIR,NMR,UV spectroscopy, physical properties will be studies ,controlled drug release in ƛ max were study in different PH values biological activities can be study for medical polymers ,SEM of polymers is measure ,thermal gravimetric., viscosity .
