Federal Initiatives for 2011-12 • Net Price Calculator • All institutions must have a net price calculator posted on their website by October 29, 2011 • CCCCO working with FinAid to create either: • Bulk upload into Federal NPC; or • Create CCC system NPC • Either way, should be automated centrally
Federal Initiatives for 2011-12 • Gainful Employment • Final regs (October 2010) require schools to disclose job placement rates for programs that prepare students for gainful employment. • Affects CCC certificate programs only
Gainful Employment • Proposed Reg/Definition: • Of all students that received a credential during year: • % that were gainfully employed in occupation for which they were trained or related field for at least 13 weeks within 6 months after receiving degree. • Satisfactory documentation: written statement from student’s employer, signed copies of income tax forms, or state-sponsored workforce data systems
Gainful Employment • Problems and feedback ensued! • Beginning July 1, 2011: • Institutions will disclose job placement for each gainful employment program using rates already required by its accrediting agency or State. • This interim method will be used until NCES/IPEDS develops a methodology. • SSA match, state EDD system preferred
