  22. FIRST READING Acts 4:5-12 Peter and John before the council R: The first Reading for the fourth Sunday of Easter is written in Chapter 4 of Acts, beginning at Verse five.

  23. Acts 4:5-12 5The next morning the leaders, the elders, and the teachers of the Law of Moses met in Jerusalem. 6The high priest Annas was there, as well as Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other members of the high priest's family.

  24. Acts 4:5-12 7They brought in Peter and John and made them stand in the middle while they questioned them. They asked, "By what power and in whose name have you done this?”

  25. Acts 4:5-12 8Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and told the nation's leaders and the elders: 9You are questioning us today about a kind deed in which a crippled man was healed. 10But there is something we must tell you and everyone else in Israel.

  26. Acts 4:5-12 This man is standing here completely well because of the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth. You put Jesus to death on a cross, but God raised him to life. 11He is the stone that you builders thought was worthless, and now he is the most important stone of all.

  27. Acts 4:5-12 12Only Jesus has the power to save! His name is the only one in all the world that can save anyone. This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

  28. Psalm 23 CEV

  29. Psalm 23 CEV R: The Psalm is Psalm 23 1You, LORD, are my shepherd. I will never be in need. C:2You let me rest in fields of green grass. You lead me to streams of peaceful water,

  30. Psalm 23 CEV R: 3and you refresh my life. You are true to your name, and you lead me along the right paths.   C:4I may walk through valleys as dark as death, but I won't be afraid. You are with me, and your shepherd's rod makes me feel safe.

  31. Psalm 23 CEV R: 5You treat me to a feast, while my enemies watch. You honour me as your guest, and you fill my cup until it overflows. C: 6Your kindness and love will always be with me each day of my life, and I will live forever in your house, LORD.  » »

  32. Psalm 23 CEV Glory to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

  33. Second reading 1 John 3:16-24 The Christian's assurance R: The Second Reading is written in Chapter 3 of First John, beginning at Verse 16.

  34. 1 John 3:16-24 16We know what love is because Jesus gave his life for us. That's why we must give our lives for each other. 17If we have all we need and see one of our own people in need, we must have pity on that person, or else we cannot say we love God. 18Children, you show love for others by truly helping them, and not merely by talking about it.

  35. 1 John 3:16-24 19When we love others, we know that we belong to the truth, and we feel at ease in the presence of God. 20But even if we don't feel at ease, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.

  36. 1 John 3:16-24 21Dear friends, if we feel at ease in the presence of God, we will have the courage to come near him. 22He will give us whatever we ask, because we obey him and do what pleases him. 23God wants us to have faith in his Son Jesus Christ and to love each other. This is also what Jesus taught us to do.

  37. 1 John 3:16-24 24If we obey God's commandments, we will stay one in our hearts with him, and he will stay one with us. The Spirit that he has given us is proof that we are one with him This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

  38. GOSPEL M: The Holy Gospel is written in Chapter 10 of the Gospel according to St John, beginning at Verse eleven. C:Glory to you, O Lord . John 10:11-18 NIV The good shepherd dies for the sheep

  39. GOSPEL M: Jesus said: 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.

  40. GOSPEL Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.

  41. GOSPEL 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again.

  42. GOSPEL 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” This is the Gospel of the Lord C: Praise to you, O Christ raised to live forever.

  43. prayer after the GOSPEL M: Thank you, Lord Jesus, our good shepherd, for being willing to die for your sheep. Lead us to know you and to follow you. C: Amen

  44. APOSTLE’S CREED C: I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

  45. APOSTLE’S CREED And in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead.
