  26. PRAYER OF THE DAY We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

  27. FIRST READING R: The first reading for Harvest Thanksgiving Day is written in Chapter twenty six of Deuteronomy beginning at verse one. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 CEV First fruits presented to the Lord

  28. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 Moses said to Israel • The LORD is giving you the land, and soon you will conquer it, settle down, 2and plant crops.

  29. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 And when you begin harvesting each of your crops, the very first things you pick must be put in a basket. Take them to the place where the LORD your God chooses to be worshiped, 3and tell the priest,

  30. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 "Long ago the LORD our God promised our ancestors that he would give us this land. And today, I thank him for keeping his promise and giving me a share of the land." 4The priest will take the basket and set it in front of the LORD'S altar.

  31. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 5Then, standing there in front of the place of worship, you must pray: My ancestor was homeless, an Aramean who went to live in Egypt. There were only a few in his family then, but they became great and powerful, a nation of many people.

  32. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 6The Egyptians were cruel and had no pity on us. They mistreated our people and forced us into slavery. 7We called out for help to you, the LORD God of our ancestors. You heard our cries; you knew we were in trouble and abused.

  33. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 8Then you terrified the Egyptians with your mighty miracles and rescued us from Egypt. 9You brought us here and gave us this land rich with milk and honey. 10Now, LORD, I bring to you the best of the crops that you have given me.

  34. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 After you say these things, place the basket in front of the LORD'S altar and bow down to worship him. 11Then you and your family must celebrate by eating a meal at the place of worship to thank the LORD your God for giving you such a good harvest.

  35. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 And remember to invite the Levites and the foreigners who live in your town. This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

  36. Psalm 100CEV R: The Psalm is Psalm 100 1Shout praises to the LORD, everyone on this earth. C: 2Be joyful and sing as you come in to worship the LORD!

  37. Psalm 100CEV R: 3You know the LORD is God! He created us, and we belong to him; We are his people, the sheep in his pasture. C: 4Be thankful and praise the LORD as you enter his temple.

  38. Psalm 100CEV R: 5The LORD is good! His love and faithfulness will last forever. C: Glory to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit As it was in the beginning is now and will be forever. Amen.

  39. SECOND READING R: The second reading is written in Chapter four of Philippians beginning at verse four. Philippians 4:4-9 CEV Rejoice in the Lord always

  40. Philippians 4:4-9 4Always be glad because of the Lord! I will say it again: Be glad 5Always be gentle with others. The Lord will soon be here. 6Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.

  41. Philippians 4:4-9 7Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.

  42. Philippians 4:4-9 8Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.

  43. Philippians 4:4-9 9You know the teachings I gave you, and you know what you heard me say and saw me do. So follow my example. And God, who gives peace, will be with you. This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

  44. GOSPEL M: The Holy Gospel is written in Chapter six of the Gospel according to St. John beginning at verse twenty five. C: Glory be to You O Lord. John 6:25-35 CEV The food that lasts

  45. John 6:25-35 25They found him on the west side of the lake and asked, "Rabbi, when did you get here?”

  46. John 6:25-35 26Jesus answered, "I tell you for certain that you are not looking for me because you saw the miracles, but because you ate all the food you wanted. 27Don't work for food that spoils. Work for food that gives eternal life. The Son of Man will give you this food, because God the Father has given him the right to do so.”
