  5. Our Vision • The committee’s vision is to design child-centered school models that increase academic learning opportunities for students while supporting the Parma City School District staff.

  9. Elementary School Important Times • TBT Time - Team determines – 1x per week • Faculty Meeting - 2nd Tuesday 8:45 – 9:15 a.m. • Teacher Workday – 8:45 a.m. – 3:55 p.m. • Teacher Workday – 8:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.(TBT day)

  10. Elementary School Important Information • Student Day—9:15-3:30 • Encores every day at the same time • Rotating Encores on a 3 day cycle • Increased instructional time

  11. Middle School 1. Interdisciplinary Teams -Three different subject teachers with the same group of students. 2. Smaller Team Population of Students -Comforting familiarity with classmates and teachers. 3. Rooms Will Be Clustered -Reduces anxiety. 4. Familiar Teachers -Elementary level activities will continue.

  12. Middle School 5. Teachers will be meeting every day to focus on implementing instructional strategies and interventions for each child on their team. 6. Middle schools are exciting! -Teams will provide fun activities. 7. Interdisciplinary teaming provides unlimited potential—Anything is possible!

Middle School Research • This research indicated the positive effect of interdisciplinary teaming and revealed (a) the critical nature of common planning time, (b) teaming improves school climate, (c) teaming increases parent communication, (d) teaming increases job satisfaction, and (e) teaming positively influences student achievement.(Middle School Journal, 31(2), 57-60)

  17. Middle School Important Times • TBT Time – Tuesdays 7:35 – 8:10 a.m. • Faculty Meeting - 2nd/4th Tuesday- 15 minutes at end of the day • Teacher Workday - 7:45 a.m. – 3:25 p.m. • Tuesday Teacher Workday- 7:30 a.m.- 3:30p.m.

High School Model Best Practices • 1 Bell Schedule • Currently • 8th Grade: 9 periods of 42 minutes • 9th-12th Grade: 8 periods of 48 minutes • Preserve House Concept/ Interdisciplinary Teaming in 8th Grade • Provide common planning time for Interdisciplinary Teams • Provide Content TBT time for 8th grade teachers • Embedded TBT Time

  19. High School Model Best Practices • TBT Time • All teachers will have dedicated time for TBT work • TBT time moved to the beginning of the day to avoid many of the current conflicts • Minimum of 45 minutes per week for a team to meet • Teachers can now be on more than one team

High School Schedule • TBT Schedule—Grades 9-12(7:35-8:00) • TBTs every day (125 minutes weekly) • Faculty meetings 2 times a month (during TBT time) • TBT/Interdisciplinary Team Schedule—Grade 8(7:35-8:00) • Interdisciplinary team meetings 4 times a week • Content specific TBTs 1 time a week • Faculty meetings 2 times a month (during TBT/Team time)
