  3. The hundred most common words Tony Buzan, in his book 'Using your Memory', points out that just 100 words comprise 50% of all words used in conversation in a language. Learning this core 100 words gets you a long way towards being able to speak in that language, albeit at a basic level. The 100 basic words used in conversation are shown below:

  8. These poems were written by pupils in year 8 last year when they had only been learning German for 4 weeks. After learning the colours they wrote colour poems for homework and here are just a few of the best! Farbengedicht (Colour poem) – Jodie Baker Blau ist für Frieden – die Menschheit an seinem Besten Gelb ist für Glück – für gutes oder für schlechtes Braun ist für Traurigkeit – die Risse von vielen Rot ist für Zorn – Hass und Wut! Schwarz ist für Furcht – Panik ohne Ende Weiß ist für Reinheit – Freundlichkeit und Zartheit, Rosa ist für Ausdauer – immer versuchen! Violett ist für Zeit – der Anfang und das Ende Und grün ist für Leben – alle diese Farben wie eine.
