  2. Visualization of Input and Output • Wireless InSite has a wide range of built-in 2D and 3D data visualization capabilities • Input data such as: • Antenna patterns • Material electrical parameters • Waveform visualization in time and frequency domains • Output Data • 2D and 3D types

  3. Data is accessible by clicking the Output tab in the Main window For each study area in the project there will be an entry with the name of the study area in the output hierarchy Viewing Output - Selecting Data

  4. Viewing Output in the Project View • Simple example on the right shows several buildings, one transmitter and a grid of receivers • For each transmitter point/receiver set combination there will be output available • Some output is also available for Tx-point to Rx-point pairs

  6. Scale Bar Customization • Scale bar properties window for the received power scale bar • Access by right clicking on the scale bar and selecting Properties • Used to customize all of the various aspects of the scale bar for each output type

  7. Viewing Propagation Paths • Viewing individual propagation paths is a powerful tool for gaining knowledge of the physics of the particular situation • Use as a diagnostic tool to check both model assumptions and the accuracy of the results

  9. Output Hierarchy (2) • The output tree can be sorted based on client preferences. Intermix the following criteria for sorting below the study area and category (i.e. point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, etc…): • Output type (i.e. Total power, Path loss, C/I, etc…) • Transmitter set • Receiver set • Output filter • An additional point-sorting layer is added for p2p output files automatically

Number of Paths • When a calculation is run, Wireless InSite saves the set of paths, up to the maximum number chosen for the project, calculated for every transmitter to receiver combination • Note: • The maximum number of paths which are viewable in the Project view can be set by clicking Project  Properties in the Main window. The last field contains “Maximum Number of Paths”. The default for this setting is 25 which is often sufficient in many applications, but may need to be increased in some applications.

  11. Viewing Paths Select the “Propagation Paths” branch Careful ! Viewing ALL paths can be slow Right-click and select Load

Line Plotting • Wireless InSite has two types of 2D graphs; rectangular and polar • In addition, the pdf and cdf of the data in the file can be plotted • Input data can be plotted, such as antenna patterns and material electrical parameters • Most of the types of output data described in the chapter on Output can be plotted on a 2D graph • For certain types of data it may make more sense to use one type of graph or another

Line Plotting (2) • Graphs and plots are stored as part of the project and are available in the Output tab or Project Hierarchy output branch • New runs update the associated plots (traces) automatically • In general, graphing begins the same way for whichever data type is to be displayed. Locate the data to be plotted by clicking the Output tab in the Main window.

Line Plotting (3) • Expanding the study area which contains the data of interest by clicking its + will list the point-to-multipoint, point-to-point, filtered, and communication systems data sets that are available. • If Plot is not available after right-clicking on a dataset, this indicates that the particular dataset is not applicable to 2D plotting. Traversing the Output tree up or down may allow 2D plotting for different datasets.

  20. Line Plotting (5) Graph Properties • There are several options for controlling how the plot is displayed. These options are accessible by right-clicking anywhere on the plot as shown

EM Field and Ray Path Movies • Provides visualization of output varying over time • Propagation paths • Electric fields including X, Y, Z and magnitude • MPEG files can be generated directly from GUI • Utilizes the same scale bar as non-animated output • Each receiver set may only show output for one transmitter point
