  2. Ethical Leader Establish an environment and culture of high ethical standards. Live and model ethical behavior and expect the same in return. Decision making is based on my core values of right and wrong. Decisions will be made based on what is best for the institution, the students, the faculty and the community.

Quality Leader • Develop a strategic plan with goals and measurable objectives for continuous improvement. • Implement the district’s Mission. • Maintain high academic standards and student achievement. • Constantly review data, (student outcomes) new trends and strategies and implement interventions as needed.

Technology Leader • Keep technology upgraded and current. • Implement staff development technology workshops. • Offer support to departments seeking funding. • As a life-long learner; I continue to take classes that will advance my skills and abilities while keeping me up to date with the latest technology, materials and techniques. • Most recently, I have taken Digital Photography and Graphic Arts to learn the new CS4 program for Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-design.

Cultural Leader • Create a culture of mutual respect. • Build relationships within the school culture and the community. • Create a trusting environment by encouraging the sharing of ideas through an open-door policy while promoting cooperation and understanding. • In Florida, I assisted in implementing a single-school culture policy for tardiness. Teachers shared ideas for school policy need and together decided on the tardy policy. They felt they had a voice and it was their idea, therefore there was cooperation in its implementation. The sharing of ideas made the teachers feel like they mattered. • Valuing and rewarding other’s productivity and contributions will help create a culture of respect. (Making announcements at gathers/meetings about the good things going on in peoples lives is an example I like to do)

Cultural Leader • An emotional intelligence approach will build a strong, trusting community. • As Goleman states in his book Primal Leadership (2002), “It’s a movement toward honesty and toward sharing of information and knowledge so that people at all levels of the company feel included and able to make the best possible decisions”(p.58). An emotional intelligence approach will build a strong, trusting community.

  9. Service Leader Help others be successful. Listen to the needs of the staff and faculty and to the best of my ability try to meet their needs so they can be successful. Provide support systems and resources so employees can be successful at reaching their goals. My personal mission is to help others reach their goals. (letter from student teacher next slide) I have been a volunteer communications team leader at my church where I developed communication plans in order to help other teams reach their goals.

Instructional Leader • Lead teacher. • Model the behavior I expect from others. • 23 years teaching experience, a department chairperson, mentor teacher, and a cooperating teacher for three student teachers and two in their field study. • Experienced in developing curriculum. • Will lead the faculty in curriculum development that will meet the needs of the students so they can reach their highest level of individual achievement. • Create methods and opportunities for the school to reach its goals and meet the State standards. • My experience as a presenter at state conventions, faculty and staff development workshops has helped me develop necessary skills and competencies needed to be an instructional leader.

Professional. • Model, respect and honestly communicate the purpose, core values of the institution. • Be honest and open with everyone at all times. • Assist and participate at all levels and treat everyone equally. • As department chair and a cooperating teacher I was always honest with those I supervised. • As person of high integrity, I treat others with consideration, and respect creating an environment where individuals are comfortable to discuss sensitive issues and feelings openly and honestly without fear of criticism.

  14. Visionary Leader • Create organizational direction and a clear vision, or picture, of change for a more successful future. Creatively communicate what the future looks like When everyone consistently works together on achieving the goals purpose and core values of the institution. • Creatively communicate the mission, vision and goals of the school district to inspire others. • Create opportunities to share the vision and give the faculty the opportunity to be heard so they can be part of the vision. • A vision becomes a reality through dedication and clear communication.

  15. Visionary Leader I was the coordinator of a school and community project called N.I.C.E/ P.A.R.C A vision to unify the school and the community through the construction of a student’s sculpture into a 36’ sculpture in a city park. After a 2 year process of planning and the development of community partners, the sculpture was fabricated and installed in the park. A vision became a reality.
